Haha Jeans White Trainers and leather jacket, must be late 90's.

Would always say 60532 re-ignited my interest in steam, after a late decision one night to have a day at NYMR, after not being for 15 years or so.

Took my excited daughter, and wife for a great day out, and went the real fish and chip shop at the head of the high street in Pickering, I can still taste them, they were excellent.

A quick copy of Moors Line, and good read, and we went back every year at some stage for 15 years or so, sometimes in Summer, then in the winter, as a day out.

Definitely BP up to Pickering on first trip, not expecting it, but great times...

I will most likely be well ridiculed for this but I personally would love to see Blue Peter on the Bluebell railway in Malachite Green livery.

Surely that'd involve renaming it "Green Peter"? So howzabout PD&SWJR blue? I've never seen an LNER pacific with polished brass dome ...... (ducks for cover)

Maybe Melesco offered them a good deal on some RHD headers that had been designed for a different market. With the LNER linkage it's less of a compromise than it would be for the Brits, since there's already allowance for the shaft across the backhead.

See my post #264. Locos of the LNER is somewhat matter of fact, but there must be a story behind this.

If I Recall the brackets for the 'Linkage' had to be strengthened on the Standards so perhaps the LNER arrangement is more sound...

Yes, indeed. A steady bracket was added to the front operating rod on both the Brits and Clans in late 1951. This was followed by the addition of a steady bracket to the rear operating rod two years later, in 1953. Both mods were incorporated into the design of 71000.

tornado is a replica of what the A1 was. there are many differnces. one is the inside cylinder smaller than the outside two in tornado because the chassis is in one part instead of two. blue peter however has a two part chassis. this is just one of many differnces.

A great many South African loco types, including the 800 or so 15Fs were right hand drive with the linking rods to the front end along the left side of the boiler, but not the 25(C&NCs)

Wow! Isn't it amazing what is being done 50 years after the supposed "end of steam"? Blue Peter, the loco, was my introduction to mainline steam when her overhaul was documented on BBC TV's Blue Peter in the early 70s. My grandad enrolled me in the loco's Preservation Society. Think I still have the magazine with a b&w photo of messers Noakes and Purves in boiler suits and donkey jackets standing on the buffer beam outside Doncaster (?) works.

Inauthentic, I know, but her original preserved livery of LNER apple green would be my first choice. BR blue (no more authentic) if we can't have apple green. But I'll turn out to ride behind her when she's ready, regardless of paint-job.

I was told a story about the difference between the two just before Christmas, not sure I should repeat it though.
