I'm just hoping that 76017 wasn't restored under a similar deal and that its not part of a deal where by to avoid very expensive for both parties legal fees that a deal hasnt been done where by Mr Bunch gets 76017 and no money actually changes hands and the MHR get an out of ticket in need of overhaul standard 5 :( so in reality the standard 4 group are shareholders in 73096 instead of 76017

I very much doubt that 76017 is the loco involved.

This thread seems to be going round in circles now. Let's just wait and see what gets announced.

Oh, is the speculation spreading to loco classes Mr Bunch is actually planning to build? If so, I hope it's something like a K3 :')

This thread has gone to sleep it seems, presumably there is no updated news or everyone has exhausted all the realistic guesses. :D

It did say no news until the new year....
Until then it's pure speculation ;)

Correct on both counts, no news and all realistic guesses are exhausted. In fact even all unreliastic guesses have been exhausted!

It's a case of wait and see now.

In the spirit of unrealistic speculation....6029? ( the Australian one!)

Hmm, thought it was in for remedial boiler work. Job for the weekend then out on the low loader ;)

SR suggests that 80080 is contracted for hire to the ELR for another 2 years at least, does this fit with the profile suggested for the new purchase?

The latest issue of Steam Railway says that the deal fell through due to the owner (singular) feeling unable to part with the loco.

Au contraire, I reckon there’s at least 7 more pages trying to identify who the sentimental single owner might have been ...

Still possible to speculate on the identity of said loco and said owner

Possible, but not very fruitful perhaps.
