Whats the plan for the 14xx?

  2. Full details of QB's SSG diagrams and meal service will be published early this week. We will be serving full English breakfasts, hot luncheons and cream teas at appropriate times of day.

It is now possible to pre-book a QB breakfast seat by visiting the Spring Steam Gala page of our official website. We will be on the rear of the 9.05 departure from Bishops Lydeard on all four days of the event. It is most unlikely that 'walk on' QB seats will be available on this first train of the day, as we anticipate selling out all four days in advance.

The remaining services each day will NOT be available for pre-booking and will all be traditional 'walk on' arrangements. There will be a MD-BL breakfast service, a BL-MD luncheon service and a MD-BL cream tea service each and every day of the event.

    More details to follow shortly.

    Barrie

P.S. We are just back from Andalucia with the hand-picked oranges for QB cook's home-made marmalade. All in the price, although it might have to be rationed!

Well, from 1958 the S&D was part of the Western Region, and it was coveted by the GW before the joint agreement between the MR and LNWR was formed...

Besides, for a Gala to have a theme, it's not always possible to have every loco conforming to said theme. If it's a choice between the costs of hiring in an extra loco to cover a diagram or using an available home-based loco which is perhaps less appropriate to the theme, it may well be that financially they decide that the best option is to use the home based loco

Why mystery loco? Don't we find out what it is until we get to gala.

Most likely answer is that contracts have not yet been completed, so the identity cannot be revealed. Unless a loco will be present at the gala in grey undercoat with no numbers or nameplates and there will be a prize for whoever guesses its identity!

    The website states:

GWR 14XX class 0-4-2T no.1450 and Autotrailer no. 178 Courtesy of Severn Valley Railway

So presumably it's working with the autotrailer!

If it's 2999 freshly out shopped in works grey then I'm buying a plane ticket!

I always like to see a 7F, and it will never look out of place on the WSR!

Having the S&D 7F means there will now be a decent loco in the lineup. :)

From the statement Didcot gave sounds like 6023 going to the GWSR after SVR.

As it's all gone quiet, just a question are we still away awaiting the mystery loco, or is that off now, please note I'm not asking what it is just is there another loco TBA

Hoping for a grand tour of the south west with main targets being a ride behind (i.e. ticket buying!) 7714 (WSR), 80104 (Swanage) and 46447 (ESR) on Friday/Saturday. Are any rosters likely to be available to aid the hotel booking process please?

If you buy your WSR Gala ticket in advance from the website, there is also the option of purchasing a Gala Souvenir Programme which will contain working timetables with loco allocations.
