I hope I’m correct in saying it passed Gisburn as I thought it had as a mate was waiting so apologies if it’s incorrect. My mate reckons railcam shows it in the block at Chatburn so it did leave Hellifield

35018 at Hellifield this afternoon. Very fortunate to get this as I was off to the NYMR today... cancelled that and came over to see 35018 for the first time. Rather glad I did!

Did she leave Hellifield in the right direction, looking at RTT she seems to have disappeared into the ether somewhere between Hellifield and Clitheroe....

There was a large group of photographers in the field leaving Hellifield who were walking back to their cars with photos of it not in the sun. I didn’t see it myself as I was walking up there from my car. Waiting at Whalley arches and hoping I haven’t missed it...

Just passed the Clitheroe railcams. Looked and sounded superb. A vast improvement on previous test runs.

Think it must have got lost between Clitheroe and Whalley... still not passed Whalley. Sun’s out at the minute, so if it could turn up now, that would be ace!

It heard me, going rather well. Steam leak present.

Sadly, the sun also heard me!

The 32E departure from Hellifield got me out of my armchair as when added to the 20+ minutes wait at Horrocksford Jn it meant running an hour before time at Wilpshire was a distinct possibility - but someone apparently said no!

So along with several other people I waited at the top of Wilpshire bank. The Blackburn bound unit (which BIL was scheduled to follow) passed through Ramsgreave and Wilpshire RT. A few minutes later the Mountsorrel to Carlisle stone train passed in the opposite direction - a cause of concern to the photographers and video warriors as it coincided with BIL's scheduled appearance. BIL appeared around 9L, looking and sounding superb; the short train was not even a challenge - unfortunately the steam leak on the fireman's side was still present, but the driver's side appeared steam tight.

So why was BIL 9L when going so well . . . The Mountsorrel train was 4E at Daisyfield Jn which meant that the Clitheroe - Blackburn was held and was 8L clearing the junction which meant BIL was held at Whalley and was thus at least 8L leaving Whalley and so late at the top of Wilpshire bank.

I hope at least one or two of our videographers post their offerings shortly, I'm salivating at the thought.

Thanks for that, very very impressive ascent, I know it'd a light load for a class 8, but nevertheless...
