B12 Charter on the SVR

We were very lucky with the weather yesterday compared with the soaking they got on Monday. Thanks to Matt Fielding for a very good day. A lot of these scenes could be back in the thirties which is what it's all about.

 

Superb shots. The B12 is such a beautiful design and having her matched with the teaks is perfection.

Oh to repeat such a scene on the N.Y.M.R. too. Throw in an apple green D49 as well...........

 

I've been smitten with the B12's since my 8th birthday, when my parents bought me the green Triang Hornby model. The real thing is even better!

 

Thanks, the great thing about the Valley is that in most of those locations there's nothing to say it's not the 1930s. Even the wind generator at Severn Lodge is in period

Can't wait for Saturday. Loved the B12 since it was a rusting hulk in Sheringham station and the NNR only went to Weybourne

 

Very nice. My second favourite type of green.

 

Nice set John. Case of deja vue for me as I did the charters when she was there 20 years ago. Was good weather that day too.

 

My first encounter with the B12 was, as a mere youth, travelling on the Wandering 1500 tour in 1963. Picture is not very good, taken at Finsbury Park where I joined the train.

 

I did it then too but can't get too much of an Apple Green B12 on the teaks

 

Nice piccie ..... I've no clue quite how Bill Harvey "got away with it" back then, but we can certainly all be glad he did!

Agree Henry, there's nothing like early Spring or late Autumn sunlight. Seems I picked the right day

 

Lovely set of images John. We must have been standing very close to each other for most of those images. Having taken me days to sort through my shots due to other commitments and a rather clunky PC I've finally managed to post them to my website!
Time to purchase a new PC me thinks!

what a shame the severn valley no longer has an LNER engine to run with those teaks a lovely combination does the B12 go straight back after the gala

 

Thanks Rick, I think a lot of us know each other by sight but not name. I was wearing the black coat with the Mercedes logo. I can't get your link to work

 

Try again now I've taken it down and re written it! Yes you could be right about knowing each other by sight etc. I Must make more of an effort to introduce myself to others on these charters!
Perhaps we should wear Name tags as well as Hi Vis jackets!
