    S160 failed at Williton, 7714 piloted 6990 from Minehead then used to rescue S160 from Williton back to Minehead

    Not sure, I was on the double header to Williton, the on train staff informed us 7714 was being used to rescue the S160, our train with 6990 left first so not sure what happened after that..

    I understand that the plan is to have it fixed by tomorrow. The guys are working overnight on it. No promises of course so check before you come.

    Over the audio on the Mine head webcam I can hear an airpump and I think I also caught a quick chime. Is 6046 fixed?

  10. Word from GM: "All fixed at 04 30- Well Done to all from the GM!"

    Good news.

    I have just seen 6046 leave MD with the freight train. Well done to the staff who spent all night fixing the loco. A 5 star effort.

    Well done to those who worked (very) late. Curious though why a broken drain cock meant the loco needed to be towed? I'd have thought it would have been able to get itself home. As I say just interested in the nature of the failure....if anyone here knows.

    The S160 is slightly different in that the cocks vent sideways and not forwards. I know nothing about the failure itself however pointing steam at near boiler pressure towards passengers or lineside photographers could ruin their day.

    Anyway, the Minehead fitters worked a nightshift to get her back up and running. Tea and medals all round !

    Can local residents passes be used on return tickets during gala?

    You can find the answer to that on the Tickets page of the WSR website.

    @AnthonyTrains2017
    I couldn't find any reference in the Tickets section, and the Tickets FAQ states (unhelpfully) that there are no FAQs.
    The answer is tucked away under Plan Your Visit/Offers/Local Residents Railcard which states:-

    Conditions of Use
    Local Resident's Railcards can only be used for Standard Travel tickets on the West Somerset Railway. They cannot be used for WSR Special Events (Galas, Thomas, Santa Trains etc) or for Special Services (Fish & Chips Specials, Murder Mystery etc).
