    L&B IN THE SNOW

I've just found these 2 gorgeous images, courtesy of Nigel Thompson and taken last Sunday, but rather tucked away lower down the L&B's news page, and thought they were too good to miss:

    Here's Snapper-

And a lovely one of Chelfham:

Looking at several recent shots (and I really like that external Chelfam composition btw) ..... there look to be some super options for future L&B calendars & Crimbo cards. :)

Anyone else remember that classic monochrome shot of an unidentifiable snow covered MW, rolling a service into a whited-out Lynton? (No? It's in 'Branch Line to Lynton' pub MP 1992 : Image 103). I seem to recall another shot of a gang digging a cutting out after a blizzard too.

Very nice pics. With the snow you could almost forget there's no track there.

As I understand it, the bungalow at Parracombe can be demolished under another planning app. It's just the construction of two new houses that's been rejected..

The vid is wrong in this regard.

Watched it myself and I have to say points well made, always found Chris' videos to be top quality content.

Would recommend his profile documentaries on specific locomotive classes, as well as topic videos such as this most recent one to any railway enthusiast.

I thought the arguments sound and fairly presented, but somewhat preaching to the converted.

Just about any building can be demolished so long as it isn’t listed.

That's a fair observation, though to be fair that could be said for anyone that wants to state their own opinion on a matter that's already been well discussed upon, no?

Not really, after a promising start, I felt I was getting the rebuttals to the Grob’s arguments rather than an independent analysis. All a question of tone.

As the misunderstanding about the bungalow has been discussed on here, and as the plans that were approved clearly state the bungalow can be demolished, it's less than impressive that the video seems to get this wrong?

Many others, including several L&BR Trust members, seem to have reached the same erroneous conclusion regarding planning permission to demolish the bungalow (which WAS granted), so it can perhaps be forgiven in this instance.

Survey results divided as 40% 43% and 18% - really???

Apart from that and the bungalow mistake, not a bad video

    Quite possible, allowing for rounding. e.g. 39.6%%, 42.7%, 17.7%

Possibly, but I think most people when referring to percentages, make sure they add up to 100!!
