As things stand, the loco roster still has the 5600 on midweek services. The Railway's Facebook page is normally fairly good at updating these sort of things too

Just to add to this, it appears the GWR tank wont be fixed in time for midweek running so the railcar is out again today and tomorrow

Just wondering if there was any update on 5619? Is she likely to be running Tomorrow/Sunday? - TIA

And I understand 'Thomas' aka Hudswell Clark 1800, will be hauling the Yarwell portion of the journey. 2 locos for the price of one!

Just a couple of photos of 5619 at work today. It was a beautiful clear day so I couldn't stay at home.

I'd be interested to know if the old station building at Wansford has been restored and in railway use.

    Ta in advance..

A good day at the NVR today. Cracking weather for a few photographs and a pleasant trip behind 5619. Thanks to Oli Goodman and crew for putting on a good show.

Some footage of GWR 5619's recent visit to the line, including 11 shots, filmed over 3 weekends. A special thanks to O Goodman, N Wilson, T Edwards (to name a few) who were crewing the loco on these occasions, for some great runpasts!

Noticed lately there seems to have been quite a few shuttle trains on the fletton branch. Any possibilities of this becoming a regular thing?

Saw some footage from a few years back of a brakevan trip & there seemed to be some industrial sidings still in place that could maybe be used as loops.

    Hi Luke.

Over the past couple of months the branch has had a substantial 6 figure sum spent on relaying it. Most of the rail dated back over 50 years and was life expired, with the trackbed being mainly ash.

The was a loop half way down the line, however this was never really in the right place for NVR services, being closer to the Orton end, and the points were life expired, so had not been used in a very long time. This has now been removed. There was also the point which led off to the sugar works sidings, but no longer went anywhere. This has also been removed. I believe 1 of the 3 points had some life left in it so has been salvaged for reuse elsewhere

It's good there's bits salvaged from it then, pity it isn't used more but operationally sounds undoable. Sad really that there's no extension scope beyond yarwell junction but like most lines the trackbed will have been wiped out years ago.

Had a pleasant day yesterday being hauled up and down by No. 5619, was planning to include some walking but the rain started so I just stayed on the train. Watering this loco took a long time - the helpful guard told me it was due to the two water tanks having an inadequately narrow 'balancing pipe' between them, so filling them both up was a prolonged process. If this was a frequent problem it would be good to have an inverted Y shaped adaptor for the water column so you could fill both tanks equally at the same time!
I do like waiting at the NVR Peterbourgh station - the area's a bit bleak but you've got the mainline above, the curve underneath the mainline for the Ely services, and the steam services so there's plenty to look at - e.g. you can get a class 91 electric service, an HST, a class 170 and a steam loco in view all at once!

Railworld next door is looking a bit run down (not that that's the NVR's fault!)

At the moment, 45 041 and 50 008 are present at Wansford along with D182 although I heard someone say the generator's out of action on the latter, is that true?
