The RAF memorial flight is flying Guernsey/jersey on that day. Can they be diverted to West Somerset on the way home lol.

Hoping you get some great shots of the railway from the air.

That is also my hope. If I do, I will find a way to make them available. I will talk to Steve @West Somerset Wizard about that.

I would be good to have some video from the ground to cut in with the aerial shots.

Thank you very much for your report , I am looking forward to my first trip to NF as I haven't been since BR days , I missed a trip a few years ago , the train had just started to pull out as I got to it , I shouldn't have spent so long in the gauge museum ,silly boy ! I hope to be across for when 9351 is back in steam , whenever that might be . Let us hope the Spring Gala is not only good but profitable too . Carry on with your good work .

  4. I am mulling over the idea of a re-run of the 2011 "Shoot the Photographers" photoshoot. Here is Mike D's pic from October 2011 of just a few of the many photo contributors to wsr.org.uk :

There have now been over 1500 photographers contributing to the website. Sadly we have lost some of those in the picture. Hopefully the others may be able to come along for a repeat lineup during the 2018 Autumn Steam Gala, along with those who have contributed since 2011. The 2018 location (not yet decided) will be a public area on the WSR so not be the turntable this time. Plc permission will, of course be sought. Any suggestions for a location? Message or email or discuss here. For information about photographing the WSR, see the photographers page.

How about the field at Nornvis with a train passing by in the background? Probably a bit inaccessible. Or the field by the line approaching Crowcombe?

Am I the only one thinking of that old shot* of loco and C&W supremos (including Dean, Robt.Billinton and Wainwright) taken at Grasmere?

It's got to be long past time we had a group portrait of as many of today's workshop chieftans as can be herded into one shot..... on neutral territory of course! One for the HRA to contemplate perhaps?

*has anyone has a postable copy of that one?

  9. Thanks for the suggested locations. I'd really like the eventual location to be wheelchair accessible this time.

Rather small. I think CH would be much better.

    How about Norton Fitzwarren platform?

Opposite end of the line from the MD turntable, plenty of space, w/c accessible, good lighting, peace & quiet, no interruption to regular services, etc..
It shouldn't be too hard to make the necessary arrangements.

A "photographer's special" would have to be run from BL. Not a dmu though, it would need to be a steam loco to pose in front of.

Minehead is to the North West of Taunton whereas M5 J25 is on the East side. How would a rail link help?
