Does anyone know where the 90mph sections are likely to be yet? In 2013 with 4464, it was Hitchin to Peterborough, north of Grantham to Babworth and Temple Hurst Jc to near as makes no difference York if my memory serves me correct?

It would make sense for the 90mph sections to be the same as last time...

Or will it simply be line speed or 90 max whichever is lower? So the crew have the flexibility to run in the 80s pretty much the whole way from Potters Bar as required by the schedule and any incidental delays.

It all kicks off after Potters Bar when we are over Welwyn Viaduct. There's a nice gap behind the 0833 KGX - Leeds.

Tickets received today. Potters Bar to York in under three hours seems rather quick to me. And the return is only a little bit slower in just over three hours.

Well done to all for pulling that one off. So it seems that when you set things up for even time runs with no unnecessary stops then the pathing slots appear.

Do you have the departure and arrival times at York, please Al? My tickets haven't arrived yet and I am meeting a friend in York and am keen to let him know when the train arrives and departs so he doesn't have to hang around. Three hours for about 175 miles including a water stop is pretty impressive!

Thanks Al. Those are seriously fast timings. Northbound, it's 176 minutes for the 176 miles from Potter's Bar including a water stop

I think the 90 mph helps the paths. Looks like 70 minutes for the 83 miles Grantham to York

Where did you find the Grantham time? I can't see the train on RTT yet. But there is FRGT, 0818 off the Cross, just in front of Tornado at York 1119. What would that be?

That is a Q path refer to earlier posts.

Fair enough, but what is that path for when it is used?

It's simple really. The Q path is the clue. If we arrive at York at 1125 then we have to stay ahead of the 0908 from KGX. Work backwards from that and you get the rough departure time from Grantham - i.e. after the 0903 KGX Leeds has gone through. But it is tight.

Various excursion trains. If you go to YouTube you will find pictures of 90034 with a UKRT train in that 100mph slot. What is it being used for next Saturday? Don't know.

Whoever is firing on this trip is going to really earn their money. It will be interesting to see the full timings when they are out because I can't quite work out how we can get to York as fast as these headline figures are suggesting! Quite something though giving passengers almost six hours in a charter destination in mid April but still managing most of the running in daylight.

I think that is probably correct as that is how I worked it out. Remember 19th September 2009. Booked 74 minutes with a 75 mph limit looks like Steve Hanczar driving this section. Just hope it all works out and maybe I can finally retire after nearly 60 years timing trains. Or maybe not ?

That's my picture of the A1 on Welwyn Viaduct. Pity nobody thought to credit me.
