Anybody know of groups that might be interested? And any idea how much it is likely to be worth/go for?

Does seem a slightly strange decision. That will leave them with just a bubble car for DMU duties. Might be ok for now, but if more DMU capacity were needed in future (Wadebridge perhaps?), then they may struggle.

Don't worry there will be a plethora of class 142's available to fill the breach ....

I guess there are a number of factors in play on the decision

Bodmin has limited space sidings wise , how many DMU turns there are and whether they believe the new bubble can cover the passenger volume

as an operational vehicle it would be a very good acquisition for someone and I suspect there will be no shortage of takers

Yes that's what I meant really. Selling the 108 almost seems like the Bodmin railway admitting that Wadebridge isn't going to happen. Especially as they once considered buying a Hampshire unit in addition to the 108 to use on services to Wadebridge.

I remember when there was an AC Cars railbus at Bodmin back in the mid-80s. They used to work on the line in BR days, and I felt it was a pity that it left - now in Essex/ East Anglia I believe.

I'm really glad to see a bubble car come to Bodmin, but it would be nice to keep the 2 car dmu as well. But I can't make any offer to pay for it all!

The sale appears to be concluded, bought by Weardale Railway Trust for somewhere around the £50,000 mark. Vehicles already moved to their new home.

I am sure I saw the AC railbus at Bodmin about 10 years ago, it was in a sorry derelict state.

Isn't that the one that is a stripped "shell" , rusting away behind the shed at Loughborough GCR?
There were great plans to get it restored (possbly for use on the Mountsorrel line) but I dont think anything has happened to it for years.
The other AC cars one that is preserved has been at the Colne Valley Railway since the 1980's

There is a bit more info & some photos here.....

I had a good look at it early last year - before the area behind the shed became "off limits" to normal visitors - and most of the tarpaulins covering it had become detatched. It looked in a terrible state, and my guess is nothing has actually been done to it for several years. I think one of the Editors or otherwise of one of the main model railway magazines was involved in its move to the GCR for restoration (was it Chris Leigh?). Whoever actually "owns" it, it will need rather a lot of money to be spent on restoring it!

EDIT: - I had a look back through my back issues of the FoGCML "Main Line" magazine and the railbus is actually owned by the David Clarke Railway Trust. It was given to them by its "previous owner" when it arrived at Loughborough in 2006.
