Couple of pictures as well as the link to the video on the website. Exciting stuff, and a big move forward for the group. Well done to all concerned.

So where are they at with the £20k? Is membership of the "200 club" still open, or is it full, with further donations going to other parts of the project?

£20k has been reached, but not all 200 Club spaces have been allocated as there was several smaller donations made by numerous people.

Therefore the target was increased to now cover the cost of the slide bar support brackets as well plus a few other pieces associated with the fitment of the cylinders (sure Liz can clarify what these bits are). This target has then also been met, and so the "200 Club" is now closed to new members (or will be by end of Year, again sure Liz will clarify).

To continue on from the strong support shown with the cylinder appeal though, those of us who have supported recent appeals have just received a new appeal called "ON THE SHELF" which is a list of components required to complete the bottom-end and I'm just waiting a Word Doc version so that this can then be uploaded online. This new appeal requires a minimum of £3,693.00 and interested person(s) are requested to sponsor a small component (ranging from £30 - £800) that once all are subscribed for should see a fully complete bottom-end provided for 6880.

All in all 2014 looks to have been a successful year for 6880, with a completed cylinder block looking possible before the year is out!

This is becoming a likely contender to steam relatively soon. Maybe we'll see it running before Saint No 2999? I'm not a shareholder in the Grange Group but I admire the way they are getting on with the job. I probably saw a "Grange" in BR days but I can't remember as they "all looked the same" to me! I'm really looking forward to seeing 6880 running, especially if it travels to a favourite line of mine in the guise of 6848 perhaps?

I bl@@dy hope so! Another 981 years to wait would be stretching the definition of "soon" ...

The latest GWS Echo suggests that the saint is likely to steam before the next edition is published, now I think it's quarterly so should be pre mid summer, not holding my breath but first time seen them actually out a sort of date on it.

saw progress first hand on Sunday thanks to a very friendly bunch with Lynn sparing a few minutes of her time to show me around.
I'm not sure whether the boiler in situ is the one from Cogan Hall or Willington Hall and what the plans are? Cogan Hall is in line to be restored eventually as I understand.
Tender now at Llangollen is from 280 3814 from NYMR which is to pair with Grange to start with.

If you visit the Betton Grange website www.6880.co.uk you will see in the news section that the boiler is only a couple of months from completion. The loco is to move to Tyseley to have the boiler fitted, following which it will return to Llangollen to be finished off.
While it's away I presume that the team will work on the tender from 3814, for which they have agreed a loan deal.

Fantastic progress and I think this COULD be the next one to steam. How about running it up to Leeds like 6858 did in 64 when its done!!
