Not a mistake, 56097 has developed a fault and as the owners can't guarantee it'll be properly fixed for the event they've pulled the loco to give the SVR the chance to find a replacement, rather than get the loco there and then it fail on the day

Bit of advice needed - I'm planning on travelling for half of tomorrow and photographing for the other half. I've seen a lot of pictures from the Eardington bank area (what looks like a shot from a bridge and one from lower down of trains coming around an uphill right-hand bend in particular) but haven't been totally sure on the maps how to get there. I'll be driving but would ideally like to leave my car at a station all day and walk on paths. Are there decent Eardington bank shots possible by walking out from Hampton Loade? Thanks in advance for any help, really looking forward to the day - it'll be the first SVR diesel gala I've made it to since they went to huge line-ups a few years ago.

It is a long walk to Eardington Bank from either Hampton Loade or Bridgnorth, not something I would be looking to do. If you look on Streetmap there is a path alongside the river if you are prepared for a lengthy walk, or walk the road from Bridgnorth (there may even be the occasional bus). Parking is limited at Eardington although I believe there is now a country park car park and the station car park may be open.

The Nature Reserve Car Park is not available at Galas. The Diamond 125 Bridgnorth - Stourbridge bus runs hourly.

I wouldn’t walk on the road from the Bridgnorth end - traffic is fast, it twists and it isn’t that wide.

I had a great day today lovely weather for it and a good variety off traction if anyone is going tomorrow get there early if you want to park at Kidderminster he SVR car park and network rail were both full before 9 am today. The event gets better every year and a credit to the railway and the volunteers at the railway.

I went yesterday and had a lovely time, good choice of locks. But the railway MUST do more to counter the crush loading on what was allways going to be the most popular train of the day ie. The 0820 from kiddy with the 88 & 66 it was approaching Indian railways level of crowding load 4 is not large enough

Joking aside whatever you do, you won't please everybody with an event on this scale.

Last year there was a larger set off air braked stoke but transport and hire cost are an issue. The best long term solution is the SVR to have a dual braked set as other preserved lines do.
