I hear that the king is due to arrive either 13/14 June

 

Wonderful visit yesterday!

7827 back at work!
I understand the 2 train service will be L94 assisting 7827/75014 with 6023 arriving mid June as already reported!

I’ll leave any ‘surprise’plans to an insider(!!) to divulge!
Personally,I never expected my local line to offer a S160 and all the above in the space of 6months

7827 seemed in cracking form!!

You can rely on the Paignton - Dartmouth line to offer surprises. No great fanfares and multi threads here, or elsewhere, but the line offers an exceptional choice in ways of spending leisure time wisely. Few lines offer the choice of visiting at least six interesting towns by more than one type of transport. Steam preservation enthusiasts can have a choice of steam not only on rail but also on the River Dart with the famous Kingswear Castle paddle steamer. For the ladies, who are not often overwhelmed by steam trains, but do enjoy a day out - there is also Greenway House, former home of the late Dame Agatha Christie who was a regular traveller on the line in former times. Plenty to see there and in a majestic scenic setting.
The line was always part of the 'Holiday Line' and continues that tradition.

 

Can anyone advise on future running dates for L94. I know from the facebook page that it has been operating on the two train service days this week.

 

.......yes ......it’s L94 and 7827 on a vbusy 2 train service. Sorry didn’t ask.....

So, bit curious but how big is the staff at the DSR? I understand that it runs entirely on paid staff as opposed to volunteer labour.

 

Anyone able to advise what's out this weekend please ?

 

Looking at Companies House, the 2016 Group accounts of Dart Valley Railway PLC showed the average number of staff employed by the Group as 118 (107 Operations, 4 Administration and 7 Directors).

The Group accounts include the results of the Pleasure boat and Bus subsidiary Dart Pleasure Craft Limited, whose own accounts show 65 employees including Directors.

So by subtraction, it seems that 53 are employed by the Railway business.

 

There are 8 volunteers at Churston station.

 

No chance of the king in action this weekend? Ideal Father’s Day.

Whoops steam engine broken down on Telegraph Hill (A380) on low loader !
Information from Radio 2 travel.
Would think that's 6023 King Edward 2 on way to Churston.

 

Typical! Blame the steam - or any type of railway loco - rather than the road vehicle which is frequently the true culprit, as it is in this instance.
