Yes it was all bar one of the Severn Valley set. The Moors in return sent an equivalent number of Mk1s to cover. The idea/plan had been to have the whole set delivered "Empty Coaching Stock" by rail using Union of South Africa as motive power, as No.9 was visiting too. Unfortunately for various reason that idea/plan fell through and they came by road. As I say bar one as the owner didn't want his coach moved that way, he was quite happy for it to have visited by rail though. If you look closely you can just see the Bo'ness & Kinniel's Thompson T.T.O at the far end of the set.

I remember crossing them at Goathland as they worked the last train of the gala back to Pickering. After disposing my loco and having a quick bite to eat at Grosmont I set off for home and was amazed to overtake two of the coaches already heading back to the SVR on the Malton bypass.

Quite a difference in shade between the Howlden Saloon and the adjacent carriage! I wonder why?

Possibly down to different levels of usage at their home railways.

I believe the effect of sunlight darkens teak over time, while sanding down and cleaning ()even deliberate bleaching I think) restores a lighter shade, so probably, the darker it is is, the longer since it was restored/revarnished or the more time spent outside.

Added to which as a natural material teak varies in colour anyway.
