That frame used to make the cladding really does give a good impression of how the loco will look when the boiler is done. They're not hanging around getting the loco wheeled.

Really need to get round to becoming a convenantor myself.

I think it might actually be a viable new build one day.

The odd thing about all of this is that by building an A1 then a P2 the trusts now technically have (or will have) all of the patterns, design and cadwork to make everything from class A1, A2, A2/2, A2/3, P2.

Even then, the 6ft 2in pattern driving wheels could also be used on the existing B1s and Green Arrow if so required.

There’s some standardisation of the smaller parts too that’ll help many LNER designs.

    We live in interesting times.

I still can. And most of the A3s and A1s and almost all of the Brits.

Perhaps the "new" LNER press office might like to do a team up with the P2 machine for a launch in the fullness of time? Mutually beneficial marketing...

By the time the P2 runs, 'LNER' will be gone.

In the photos, is the bogie frame a mock-up, or the actual completed assembly?

Apparently the DfT are planning to move to the Scotrail model with the LNER branding retained from one operator to the next.
