Yes, we've had some rain, but we'll be lucky to get the steam ban lifted before the end of September.

 

Shap village had a months worth of rain on Saturday & Sunday so might bode well for the CME on Saturday plus it’s raining again today

 

Can someone explain to me the anti Flying Scotsman alleged view from the lineside?? I don't understand why it is warranted.

Is it due to the amount of money spent restoring it & a belief that it could have been spent else where?

The condition it currently is running in i.e. with deflectors & livery is as correct as it can be.............?

 

48151 + 37 today. Going past the Horton webcam, the only sound - apart from a whistle from the 8F - was coming from the 37, which was working hard.

With only brief spells of rain forecast for the S&C between now and Saturday, I can't see the weekend's trains being allowed to run unassisted.

 

The Saphos website this morning is already anticipating that with this caveat about the 7th August Fellsman
"therefore on 7 August ‘The Fellsman’ will be steam hauled throughout from Lancaster to Carlisle, and return, but a diesel will be included in the formation to assist."

 

Hmmm, perhaps there's a need for them to look up the meaning of the word hauled:

"to pull or draw with force".

Haven't seen a lot of that going on of late. Will be interesting to see how it runs bearing in mind it's getting close to the 11th's Anniversary trains.

True they did a great job I must admit. Just not my favourite engine plus just repeating what others call it to be honest.

 

Well the good thing is in this country we are allowed opinion and principle which means you don't have to film it if you don't like it. So I will be watching on Saturday to see if you weaken
