    Andy,
If they feel strongly enough, the "many people" can voice their own opinions, surely?
If you feel you would like to relieve the current chairman of some of his many tasks, you could always join the Trust, and put yourself forward to be elected?

Just a thought ... but I'll say no more on this matter here.

i believe an invite like this was made by keith vingoe on exmoor ng a while back when i dared to make a criticism or two, like i said then,i would'nt stand a chance or last long if i was elected, simply because i would be too outspoken,as for relieving the current chairman of his many tasks,im sure there are many others who have the time who would be willing to,as for myself, with a full time job that takes more than 8 hours in a day plus my 1 day a week at snapper,i wouldnt be able to commit fully to other things as i would'nt have the time to do a thorough job,i am merely suggesting with the impending extension project he concentrates on doing one job thoroughly instead of trying to control everything

Yes I must confess, after reading several of his posts which seems to be centred on making some kind of scandal around this chairman fellow, I have to ask what is Meatman's endgame here? Is there a point he's trying to make? If so why not be more direct about it instead of his consistently vague/sarcastic remarks (which don't appear to be that well typed out as if rushed if I might add), why not get to the point of all these remarks already?

Either that or leave the good people on here to just talk freely about the great marvel Lyn is showing itself to be, and the pride they feel for it's very existence. He's not gonna get anywhere drumming his cause (whatever that may be) here, so it would be best to just leave it be and move on. This is not the place for his remarks, this is for the new build Lyn.

If he's got some proper to say about his issue with the chairman or the L&B as a whole, he can surely find a more appropriate thread elsewhere then this one, or start his own thread on the topic.

to be quite honest there was just a lot of bickering about the shade of green LYN is painted in,i just offered another choice as to why the colour was chosen and then people got grumpy because criticism of anything l&b isnt possibly allowed, personally ive nothing against LYN although id much prefer TAW myself

I wouldn't say people got overly grumpy over your comment, more like finding it odd you seemed to bring up some supposed big scandal about one man apparently taking an iron grip of the L&B, which has little if any relevance to the topic at hand being Lyn, and nor is it neccesarily the true picture of how things actually are either. Your entitled to your own opinions of course, and if you feel the way you do that's fair enough, though not everybody is going to agree with your conjectures on here. Primarily really down to, as I say again, this is about Lyn specifically, not the structure of how the L&B is run.

Personally I'd like to see the L&B get some manning wardles for itself at some point too, but hopefully that may well come to happen in due time. Though that's get the extension to Blackmoor sorted first shall we? Need a longer run before we can build more wardles.

There is no problem with anyone criticising the L&B or any other railway, but if you do, you should expect some reaction, which will almost undoubtedly include people suggesting that you do something more constructive about it, other than just complain.

It would even be more constructive to have some actual complaints rather than just suggestions and innuendos...

Suggest you purchase the next issue of Steam Railway magazine which hopefully will contain information that should bring a smile to your face. ;)

With a new Baldwin in service, rebuilt coaches, and planning permission granted there isn't much to complain about with the L&B.

Seeing Lyn & Lyd running in September is a sight people have said would never happen.

With a couple of friends I have had a visit to the L&B today and it was all most impressive with the Baldwin looking just fine to me, excellent clean coaches and a friendly greeting at Woody Bay. Lunch at the Old Station and onward to Chelfham where we were an informative tour of the work being carried out at the station to restore it to its former appearance. And there were good passenger loadings which is always good to see.

First thing and one of us avidly taking pictures -- yes that was us. Thanks for making us welcome and I hope you enjoyed your day on the new loco.

Well you were certainly right there mate, the news did indeed bring a big smile to my face. :D

In the latest issue of Steam Railway I received today, I've come to learn the L&B are launching a 1.1 million pound project to build 2 brand new Manning Wardles, to be named Yeo and Exe respectively. Apparently both shall be built at the same time, but at two separate locations, Yeo at Killamarsh, Derbyshire, and Exe at Boston Lodge. Their logic for launching this project now seems to be that, as it will be some years yet till the extension to Blackmoor Gate is completed, it makes sense to start the project now so that both are ready for service when the railway is finally expanded and is in need of additional motive power.

Seems like a pretty sensible idea to me, planning well in advance to meet the inevitable demand this gradually growing railway will have.

Like I said recently, this will require a whole new Nat. Pres. thread. Well here it is...

Indeed it will, and I'll certainly be watching that thread now too, though I figured I'd post it on here anyway so folks following LYN's progress know... the Wardles are coming~!

At Woody Bay, AXE is now rostered for passenger steam service, whilst LYN is preparing for a trip to Wales to star at the FR/WHR Superpower weekend , 14-16 September!
