OK, fair enough so, the tour I'm booked on is The Auld Reekie, October 7th, the A1 trust say it will run, please advise what I should do ( in your opinion).

Cross your fingers and toes, Victor, and pray!

UK Railtours are clearly not confident, as they have omitted all Tornado tours from their latest brochure, which includes other tours from 17 August onwards.

But if it does run, I'll be on board as well.

Seems to be a brochure of UKRT's own railtours and none they are just agents for.

The Summer, Autumn and Christmas 2018 Brochure with tours from 26th May onwards did not have any A1 tours in either.

I imagine that UKRT is now fed up with advertising A1ST tours and notifying those who have booked on them of the latest version of what may be happening. Don't forget that UKRT has a policy of running every tour that they advertise.

I hope John and his people are being well paid for being the A1SLT's agents this year because it must be getting more than a bit of a hassle for them answering phone and email enquiries as well as facilitating refunds/transfers.

It could be that previously the A1st paid UKR to advertise their trips in the brochure. I do not remember A1ST trips being in all UKR brochures.

Weather forecast looks good (or bad) enough for next week's Waverley. hope for the passengers it's back to proper steam.

Moving in the right direction but at what speed? The forecast for Settle next week is light rain or rain showers five days out of seven. Maybe two weeks of that will be enough.

I cut the grass yesterday, first time for two months (in Leeds).

Also made a visit up to 61625 on Wed. Plenty of harvesting going on, in fact mostly done in those parts. Farmers will be burning the stubble soon.

Wasn't that banned years ago? Certainly hasn't happened in East Anglia for over twenty years (and here, the harvest is done and they're now ploughing the stubble back into the ground.)

You are welcome to your views but I think we’ll agree to disagree on this one. You missed the bigger picture of my post.

You’ve admitted in the past to not boarding charters if you find a diesel in the consist at the station, which is completely bonkers and a massive over-reaction. I’d never in a million years dream of doing that - perhaps in times like this, where promoters, TOCs and NR are doing their best to keep trains running despite the challenges faced by the weather - expectations could be lowered a tad and accept that a compromise must be made?

......... but the only person with no choice but to accept the imposed compromise is the customer, all the other stakeholders have other options.
I've been reading the samples of positive reports from travellers on the trains, which is of course the true measure, but I think in all the plaudits being given perhaps the passengers who have tolerated the degraded mode of steam usage should be accorded due credit in respect to their forbearance too.
The one small mercy of the situation was that no recreation motive power / train was planned, which would arguably have been more sadly detracted by the fire risk measures.

If a recreation of 1T57 was planned, then the fire risk policy had to be applied, it would have spoiled it more than the more 'generic' trains that did run on the anniversary date, IMHO.
