This Sunday's Torbex is to be DL free but what about No. 9 on Saturday?

As of today, both Great Western and LNE have reverted to 'Normal' status, whilst LNW and Wessex currently remain 'High'.

In fact if Wessex is the SW main line then No. 9 in Saturday should be DL free but not so next Tuesday though mainly the same route!

Fingers crossed. This is my first tour for nearly 8 years now and my first with 60009. Not travelled over the WSR so looking forward that despite an early start to get to Paddington.

This LE move http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U55277/2018/08/18/advanced seems to indicate the current plan is to run unassisted, but it could all change on the day!

I had rather hoped the position had been made quite clear!

Unless there is a change in fire-risk status (unlikely), there will be no requirement for diesel - and there is absolutely no benefit to us in adding one.

Yes it was clear. Just me getting confused. Put it down to advancing years.

I booked on this today and when I asked the lady said that it would be diesel assisted due to the fire risk which is what it says on the confirmation. When I queried this she said yes she thought it had been updated. I sincerely hope it is not DL assisted as I am desperate for a run behind No. 9 before its too late and DL assisted runs don't count. I am relying on JS's comment and the fact that more rain is forecast tomorrow.

The SW had some rain Saturday and Sunday but it has been quite warm and mostly sunny since. There has also been strong breezes which do assist in helping dry the vegetation and land. The Torbay, as mentioned in an earlier thread has no diesel assistance so hopefully this one to Bishops Lydeard will also be without diesel assistance.

Whilst the tour operator may be behind the curve on what will happen, it would be remarkable if the company responsible for running the trip and providing the crew was! I'd be reassured by the return LE path to Southall:

Quite a few empty seats judging from the video at Reading Station. Load 11 so should be entertaining on Savernake and Brewham.
