As others have said, the video is far too long and if I'm being honest it is far too bland. We've been over this before, but nobody wants to watch the countryside go past - if I wanted to do that, I'd book a ticket and look out the window.

As several of us have suggested before, I'd recommend cutting down the video length to something sensible and only use clips that are interesting - less is more in this instance. I'd also suggest having a look through the analytics section to see how long people are sticking around. Once you find that figure across your videos, chop any future videos down to that length and it will reduce the likelihood of people switching off a minute in.

Also, I noticed a load of typos/grammatical errors in your description and comments which doesn't reflect very well, either.

I'm sure you are only trying to be helpful but any reason you couldn't have offered that critique in private?

The title of the video: SR 35018 British India Line - The Scarborough Spa Express, Carnforth-Scarborough. 9/8/18 is the way I always put my video's down so that people can see what the loco was aswell as the tour name (the acception being if theres more than one steam loco featured in the video in which case I put it as Double/Triple/etc steam in wherever I filmed, dont go asking me if iv been filming in more than one place). Iv been putting the titles of my videos like that right from when I launched my current channel back in 2010 so dont expect a change of the title. In the case of other videos where for example iv put it as Winter Cumbrian Mtn Express the reason for that is because your limited in what you can use for a video title, besides there are other people about who do cut short the CME/WCME name in their video titles and put it as either CME/WCME or Cumbrian Mtn Express/Winter Cumbrian Mtn Express.

It's exactly the same with the start of my video descriptions as I always put it as: LMS Jubilee class 4-6-0 no 45690 Leander working 1Z70 The Fellsman from Lancaster to Carlisle or whatever loco was hauling the train and the name of the tour etc. The rest of the description varies each time as from the top bit it changes on each video, the one that stays the same at the bottom of the video is: All content in this video is © of David Moyle, Moylesy Productions & Mr Moyle's Photography and was shot by myself and nobody else. Re-use elsewhere is not permitted without my permission.

& then right at the bottom when iv been onboard tours I include: PLEASE NOTE: THIS VIDEO WAS FILMED SAFELY WITH ONLY THE CAMERA BEING OUT OF THE WINDOW. The reason for the later text is due to previous comments from people regarding claims that I was window hanging with my upper body being out the window which as iv said before and I will say it again I have only the camera out of the window which is being held by my hand which is a fraction out, I dont even lean against the doors as I stand well clear of them.

Dont know why iv been getting abuse off people for my trip onboard 35018 when other people who film onboard tours are getting off scot free, a certain other you tuber posts videos from on-board tours and he's getting away without negative feedback. His have wind noise issues like mine but they're getting away scot free, atleast my videos dont go on for over 5 hours.

So we are now allowed to critcise videos etc.In the past I have been warned on here for doing this, but seeing as its OK for moderators it should be ok for everyone
This can only improve standards.I would suggest that the criticism should be constructive.
I feel sorry for Mr Moyles in that he has become a victim of sarcasm and abuse,I also have been warned about sarcasm in the past

NatPres has to be one of the worst moderated forums on the internet, I thought moderators were supposed to be impartial. :Banghead:

One moderator in particular seems to have a major conflict of interest between the duties and an obvious desire to snipe publicly at individual contributors. Petty point scoring, attempted belittling and personalised criticism is behaviour no moderator should display.

What I dont understand is Ralph5407 previously said my video's were fantastic in the past and praised me for my video of the High Peak Explorer but then he put that comment about my video which just shocked me. I cant afford a professional camera and microphone at present as it's around £700 and the camera I currently use is expected to see only heritage line use from next year so wind noise wont be an issue then, unless someone or some people are willing to contribute to funding me for a new camera or buying me one for my 25th birthday in January there's little I can do presently.:(

I don't know how you work that out Stuart, I haven't got/ never have had a camera of any sort. I wouldn't know how to start.

Mr Moylesy asked a question, I gave an honest answer. [IMG]

Decent gear doesn't not have to be of professional quality and doesn't have to cost a fortune. A Røde videomic with foam wind gag can be had for under £50. A better quality windshield can be had for under £100. You'll be surprised just what difference relatively inexpensive add ons can make to the quality of your videos.

Indeed, but even so, more time and thought in post-production can make a huge difference too. Cut-away inserts, short, simple, informative captions, restricting on-train footage to highlights only, carefully stitched together. Write a story-board, decide how long the piece is going to run and stick to it.

Spot on there John. Back in the days of cine film I gave a few shows to raise funds for 34081. I learnt very soon that over long sequences soon cause the audience to lose interest.

Will it not take any sort of external mic?
