I have heard from another usually impeccable source that a motion before the PLC board tomorrow will remove the current chairman. I have also heard that an EGM of the PLC is likely to to remove the poor management currently in post. Much more that I am not yet able to get confirmation of.

It doesn't look like it. Sadly the WSR is earning itself the title of The Crisis Line.

Really no surprise. Been a lot of bed hopping by one person....WSRA Chair then Plc Director, then WSRA Trustee, then PLC Director.
Chairman next? Will have to wait and see.

Cue alternative interpretations of 'WSR'. But also cue the multiple sighs of those who work and operate the railway for whom this mess must seem never ending.

I too regret it but it does seem that we are getting close to the end game when the bad guys will finally be removed. Sadly it is not likely to be an easy or pleasant process. With some luck the “One Railway concept” may finally emerge albeit with some casualties. Hopefully the RAF motto will prevail.

Until the next time presumably? Unless something more fundamental that people changes one would think...

How long ago was it that the PLC chairman was a good guy?

(Wasn't he considered such a hero he had a beer named after him, or am I getting muddled up with someone else here? It's all a bit complex to follow)

At what point did he turn to the dark side? Did he suddenly start cackling maniacally and wearing a black cloak one morning?

More like the” Dirty Washing Line” I would suggest. Can internal politics rumours etc. stay that way - internal please.

I think I have said it before, there too many egos on this line, too many people think they can do it better than the other person.

Did you not see the picture of him with a couple of stormtroopers at Minehead last week?[IMG]

I shouldn't joke though, it's a great shame the railway finds itself in this seemingly never ending saga.....

It's perfectly understandable that different people have conflicting ideas of what's best for the railway. What's harder to understand is that every time some of them come together and agree a way forward, soon afterwards they find something to disagree about. Then, instead of negotiating, consulting other interested parties for their opinions, and seeking a compromise, one faction gang up and sack the other faction. Maybe it's not really quite like that, but that is how it appears from the information that is posted on here.

Back in the period of the ex-6, developers, dodgy councillors and all that, when some of us here contributed time and/or money to get the ex-6 ousted, it seemed clear who were the goodies and who were the baddies. It has now become clear as mud.

Absolutely, Ian was and still is the Good Guy. Steering a middle course between the hard nosed commercial ethos and the steady volunteer culture Ian's approach to the One Railway idea was sound and he and his colleagues in other organisations moved the whole railway forward. If there is a Coup then those who perpetrate it should be very wary as there are already rumblings about a volunteer strike. I think the junior directors should give this action some serious thought because they may just inherit a moribund company!

Two different situations. The previous problems were with the WSRA whereas this is the WSR PLC that are two different entities albeit closely linked. More will become clear later.
