The train arrived behind 60009 only a few moments down but there is no sign of the return journey departing on RTT .

Does anyone have any information as to the status of the train, please?

According to WRgen, 33012 is being scrambled from Swanage to rescue the train. The 47 has failed and the 33 will return the train to London via Winchester with no steam haulage.

Rather ironic that this week, we lost the 47 behind 60009, but we needed it...

Not ideal but a good Plan B that should at least get people home at a reasonable time. I have to say that I was concerned about 60009. It is running three trips this week with only a day gap between each. Not the best arrangement from a maintenance point of view.

I shared the concerns. Ironic its the 47 that's failed.

Question now is how does No9 get back to London in time for Saturday's train? I pity the support crew.

When everything was running smoothly... 60009 racing through Winchester with a gorgeous blast on the whistle.

Could be that it will go back on the rear of the train.

Well I'm watching the action on the realtime maps on Open Train Times - the train has just moved from Jersey sidings into Weymouth station, while 0Z33 has now reached Dorchester so will be there shortly. I assume that if the 47 has expired, it was No 9 that moved the train into the platform? What happens next is anyone's guess!

I'll keep an eye on it - it's better than watching EastEnders!

Train now underway. Assume the Swanage 33 is now in charge. No idea if No.9 is on the back giving it a push up to Bincombe Tunnel!

    Rather an appropriate reporting number!

Not that many on the train other than the diners
Nice to see them in the twilight

Some shots from before the fun started - 60009 hiding in her own smokescreen at Woking, leaving Woking and climbing Bincombe Bank near Winterbourne Monkton

    Good shots - very picturesque.
Incidentally, was the last shot taken whilst 60009 was drifting down Bincombe Bank towards Weymouth just before 14:00?
If it was climbing the bank it does not seem to be doing much banking work tender first to help D6515 (33012) up the front.
D6515 now entered Down Brentford Sidings with the ECS for Southall and, hopefully, it will return to Swanage shortly (unharmed from it's 'International Rescue' role!).

60009 whistle could be heard in the streets of West Ealing around 0105, so it made it back to West London.
