As a non MHR member I just wondered what will be said to those that turn up on the last Friday of the school holidays (maybe on the way back from elsewhere and having not looked at the website).
Will there be security guards a la the ones Warner Bros employed for the Harry Potter filming at Kings Cross restricting access and removing memory cards if people dare to take photographs?
Hope the hire fees covers the loss of fares and the goodwill. Seems a very strange day to agree to do it.

73096 was back at Alresford late this afternoon and looked to be parked up awaiting unloading from the low loader when we left

41312 and 925 in operation today and both working well. First ride behind both for many a year!

92212 being worked on at Ropley

I take it 73096 is still facing towards Alton.

thing is though, the car park at Alresford is public land, and council run, so anyone will still be able to see who is on board from the fence unless the railway is erecting screens, to hide public view

See that mole hill over there, have you decided to call it Ben Nevis or Snowdon?

Yes, sorry. It had fallen half-off twice before when I'd emptied it, but unfortunately this time it came clean off.

It's probably still there, it was far too wet to attempt any kind of repair on Sunday.

Is it safe to post something with facts in it?....... :Nailbiting:

When I dropped down to Ropley after dealing with the troublesome trucks up a Medstead on Saturday - there was a heck of a racket coming from a corner of the yard.......

Before I found out what was going on, I happened upon one of the lads working on 50 027 - had a good chat - turns out the radiator is back from repair, but the compartment needs some serious TLC before the rad can go back in, but as ever time, manpower & money will determine when she returns to traffic.

Then I discovered it was the ULS lads trying to give everyone a headache riveting away!

Turns out they have over the last two weekends riveted in the middle frame stretcher on 499 and the front end rebuild is now under way.

They are obviously determined to get 499 up & running sooner rather than later, but as ever money is always needed, so, and their behest - if you want to see 499 join 506 in steam sooner - visit www.urieloco.co.uk and use the contact page to find out more about the benefits of becoming a member which is only £15 p.a. which is naff all! or use it to garner a way to send them a donation. ;) :)

If you join the ULS, you also get the society magazine "Stove Pipe" which is an excellent little publication.

47 D1935 passing Bentley this morning. Not sure, however, is this a recently refurbished/repainted rake? 47 D1935-3 Bentley 31082018.jpg

It reminds me a little bit of an incident in the village I lived in a few years back. A fashion house had decided to host their spring collection at a local stately home and to run a couple of special trains to the village station where all the very wealthy guests would be picked up and taken to the fashion show. So the car park was closed and only the guest could use it. There were about 200 odd cars then navigating the narrow lanes of the village. Problem was that it coincided with when people were trying to get home which made it worse. The whole thing was something of a clusterfck. The attitude of the organisers was very much ‘we have the money we can do what we like, suck it up proles’

It's the Hosking-owned Saphos/LSL set normally based at Crewe. Having viewed it at Alton this afternoon, it looks like very serious amounts of money have been spent on refurbishment - the whole set is in superb condition.
