    Very kind of you Anthony, it’s for a book I’m writing (Transforming the Western Region) and I wanted to capture the Bristol resignalling works, which happened at Easter. Book due out later this year.

    But also surprising that, having let her out before the slightly delayed Paddington train reached Temple Meads, they then let her stay in front all the way to Milton Junction (water stop?), by which time the Paddington train was half an hour down.

    Yes that was an interesting decision. However, I think that the Belmond trips are of a slightly different status from normal steam charters in that the paths are as other services. So as the WSM to PAD service was booked to follow the Pullman to Swindon, that's what it did. The Swansea to PAD service was also on its tail.

    If I paid nearly 500 quid for a trip to Bristol I would expect a bit of special treatment!

    As the generator coach had to be removed it was fortunate that we didn't end up with a diesel loco in the consist. <BJ>
