Not normally a fan of Western engines but after 5029's exploits on the Alps will have to give this a look in

Yes, the last visit of 5029 was very impressive. This final run of the day from Alton stayed with me for a long time after the event:

I wonder if Tyseley will allow 7029 to make a visit to Ropley in October?

Much as it is nice to have a few Western visitors in October. I am personally hoping that 506`s protracted overhaul will be completed by then and hope to clock up some miles behind her.

I am really looking forward to the return of 506 as well. She can make just as much noise as the Western loco's.
506 should be finished well before the Gala though as she has to fill the gap made by 45379 coming out of ticket in September.

I received My copy of Stovepipe magazine the other day. There’s an open day at Ropley being held by the Urie loco group on Saturday 30th June.

Ooooo, a Western themed gala sounds really good. Even better if they manage to get that big blue loco. :):)

Haven't heard much about this gala? Any news on more visitors?

MHR advert in the back of the new issue of The Railway Magazine which arrived today says it is home fleet and 7822 only. No mention of any other guest loco's. So guessing that will be 41312, 925, 76017, 92212. Not sure if 30506 will be ready by then.
I was hoping they could get 60009 to visit one last time before she heads for the quiet life.

No. 9 is scheduled for a mainline trip that weekend. Remember it's at the Bluebell the previous week if you want to see it up close and personal :)

Bit of a disappointing lineup really if 7822 is the only visitor.

There is only so much expenditure on transport and hire that you could expect a weekend's Gala to recover and make worthwhile - I suspect the days of the 'mega-Galas' may be numbered as cold, financial reality dawns........

I forgot about the Yorkshireman ML charter.

I am going to the Bluebell Gala to get a final fix of No.9.
The MHR would have been a nice bonus visit a bit nearer to home.
I wonder if 73082 is available for the MHR Autumn Gala?

Just give those that are organising this shindig a chance - its weeks away yet & there's no point in advertising a loco until they can be sure what they hope to get is available & fit for traffic!

Nice idea - quite like the idea of a Standard 5 on the Mid Hants. It's been a while since we saw 73096 in action and 73082 is a Southern 5 after all. It is actually my favourite of the Bluebell fleet.

The facebook page just announced they will be telling us what the next loco is tomorrow at 10am however they have left a clue until then:

    She was built in 1934
8 of the class have been preserved
The loco has never visited the Mid hants before

    Ideas?
