    I'm all for photo charters for repaints and similar - but BR black? Before we get to see it in GWR green?

    Someone out there has a sense of humour, given the feeling for BR liveries at present! ;)

    It just says black on the website. No doubt we’ll discover GWR Black is a completely different colour. :)

    I think I read that they are using a black undercoat. So to apply BR lining and the small lion over wheel emblem (and red backed nameplates?) for a very brief period would be quite easy. Some curved frame outside steam pipe Saints and Courts received this livery and although 2999 isn't in this sub-group, as I see it, it's close enough.

    And wouldn't it look nice posed alongside the blue King?

    If it raises cash I guess it's acceptable but I can't say I'm over-enamoured with Didcot's BR livery dominance.

    Dominance?

    is anything else in BR livery bar the king and Kerosene Castle (I don't think 4144 really counts.)

    GWR locos look good in BR colours as the greens are the same!

    I am not sure whether that's even fair or backed up by evidence, I must confess I haven't been there for a whole but in BR livery from my recollection and the updates from the GWS were..

    King (but one could argue its illustrating a unique historical livery rather than illustrating a wish to BR livery everything?)
    The Turbine - cannot be in anything else;
    4144 - Again a historical variation on the theme;
    5322 - Don't think that's in BR at the moment, seems to be in some manner of hybrid ROD livery?
    1363 - Was this black at one stage (may be wrong but wasn't it for a photo thing before dismantling for restoration?)
    The only other I can think of is the Hawksworth tender that was formerly with 6998, BR liveried for the end of 5051's main line ticket (cannot believe this was 11 years ago ) and now I assume is back with Burton Aggie as 5051 has got her tender back, although the last photo I saw of 6998 she is still in GWR livery so I suppose its representing a 1948 hybrid again?

    According to a facebook post by Didcot Railway Centre, the picture was taken on August 7th when she was positioned outside after being moved from the lifting shop when 3650 was taken in there to have her boiler lifted.

    Hope this helps,

    Adam

    As an LNER/LMS man, I've never really taken much interest in the GWR. However, I think the 47xx look to be awesome beasts and looking forward to seeing the new-build!
