I was on that working at the SVR you mention! 1013 had failed outside Bewdley and a lot of the Western men were prepared to leap off at Bewdley lest they were rescued by a 50! (Old habits etc) but yes good old Number 9 came to the rescue, I believe 6024 was out that day too for their AGM. 45110 or 48773 and 50031/44 may have been about too, on any other railway that would be called a gala!

Whilst some may see that as a positive, I for one would like to see JC achieve whatever he wants.

She could have an extra year in steam on the NYMR going by the report in HR. She may be based at the NYMR for 12 months from July next year.

Be very nice if it does and especially running alongside sister loco 60007 if the latter overhaul is completed by then?

The news about her running on the NYMR has apparently come as a complete surprise to the Railway.

Okay, just as guilty as some here but I thought this was a thread for posting memories of 60009, not resurrecting old arguments about 60009's fate?

Agreed...they should go here really. Perhaps one of our friendly mods would oblige?

Ahh the Scottish Lowlander - my memory of that trip was the acceleration from No. 9 having crested the summit of Beattock - we really flew down the bank towards Abington...

Yes, unfortunately a call to the loop spoilt the fun, otherwise I suspect we could have been treated to something special!
