I bought mine around lunchtime. I must say that the 80150 team have come up with some great branded merchandise. I hope that the sales have been good.

Spent a couple of hours at the railway this morning. Trains looked well filled and 9F put on an excellent show 'barking' through Ropley non-stop with the excellent goods train. Quite a lengthy collections of wagons and loco made quite a sight! Thanks to all of the working folk at the railway for another excellent event. Andy

Before I completely forget - just to say thanks to those who came & supported the wagon group last weekend - be it brake van rides, yard tours or sales stand. :)

I think I got water on the brain yesterday up at Medstead - instead of going home after a productive day despite the wet stuff - I dropped down to Ropley to see what was what seeing as 925 was failed on the service trains, with both gauge glasses gone, subbed by the Crompton.

76017 was being worked on viz a niggling problem & was 50/50 to run today - I believe she made it.......

41312 was cold pending a jolly to the Wizzer & with 45379 having been retired, that left 92212 which to my surprise worked the Belle with the Crompton on the RAT!

So I stayed to witness the event, in not very pleasant weather.

Oh, and it was also nice the see new recruit on the station staff at Medstead, Dan'@sem34090 ! :)

Intrigued as to why gauge glasses going would make it a failure. Fireman's job to change them and it doesn't take long. Or was it a bit more than simply broken glasses?

Honest answer - I don't know, glasses were what I was told - all I know is, not a fix to do until it had cooled down, hence being failed in traffic.

What I do know is, the 9F has its bark back it sounded Bootiful yesterday! :)

If I remember correctly, from standing alongside 925 as the problem was being declared, the crew couldn't change the gauge glasses - loosening whatever holds them in resulted in a face full of steam. As they therefore had to wait until the loco was cold, they decided to see how it went from Medstead, up to Alton, then back to Ropley where she was failed. Hence the 33.

76017 did indeed make it through Yesterday, and a very fine sight (and sound!) she made too. Some very impressive starts from Medstead towards Alton by both of the Standards.

If I knew 33202 was out on the RAT On Saturday night I would of popped in to Ropley for a long exposure shot of 33202. A crompton at night with the cab lights on and the route blinds lit makes for a great night shot. :)

I’m sure NightRail could provide us with a Crompton night shot.

I've got three that I'd already scanned. 33109, which used to be at the Mid-Hants. This is shown on a Boat Train at Guildford in 1994 and on display at the Bournemouth Open Weekend in 1998. The third one is 33208 at Ropley, also in 1998. NR0104.jpg NR0140.jpg NR0232.jpg

The shut off cocks weren't sealing as they should making it impossible to deal with the leaky gauge glasses. Nothing dramatic, just difficult to address with full boiler pressure. The loco was taken out of traffic as a precaution because it was felt that if a glass had gone the seal would not have been as good as you would wish.

Thanks. That's a bit different to a broken glass.

506 moves ever closer - boiler & frames were reunited today. :)

Not my photo - nicked it from social mediocrity.

Great to see progress on the S15; hopefully this time next year it will be a regular performer on the Alps!

I wonder what is next into the boiler shop?? Or is it just freeing up space.........?
