I would imagine that IF the trust are allowed / are persuaded to restore either locomotive to running condition they will require something with equivalent 'star billing' to the A4 & K4 to replace it.

For example I could potentially see the trustees agreeing to restoring the K4 if the sole surviving V2 Green Arrow was loaned out to this new museum from the NRM to take its place.

People need to remember that Mr Cameron's locos are after all going to be the star attraction in this new development and will pull in far more visitors than stuff related to Scottish farming traditions - and just as the Tiverton and Birmingham museums won't let their locos escape for fear of harming visitor numbers, so the same is true for Mr Cameron's venture.

Your speculation may turn out to be accurate but at this very early juncture it is impossible to know how later custodians may exercise their discretion or indeed what the scope of that discretion might be.

Quite so - and to clarify I would expect that IF such a swap was to be agreed, it would only be after Mr Cameron's attraction is firmly established (i.e. open for a decade or so)

Some interesting questions and suggestions about what might happen to 60009 in the (distant) future. But hey! Let's not forget she's alive and kicking now and mainline registered for another few months yet. Judging by what's happened this year so far, there could be a few more unexpected appearances and dazzling performances. Edinburgh to Aberdeen, anyone??

So so sad. I have the utmost admiration, thanks and respect for JC but its just not right for the Good Lady to be kept this way. i have followed her for over 50 years and to be completely honest these plans and the consequent implications i find upsetting.

i understand JC's point of view but wish there could be another solution - i heard mr riley was trying to persuade JC otherwise but seemed doomed to fail

how can we change JC's mind?

This will be just like the Vulcan in the aircraft world. As a static exhibit they will become forgoten about. However unlike the vulcan the technical skills will still hopefully be around in the future if plans change.

It's his engine, to do as he pleases with.

    Please respect that.

Believe me, I did question the wisdom of posting that...

The first one seems pretty fundamental, back to the drawing board?

    REFUSE FOR THE FOLLOWING REASON(S):

    1. The proposed development would create an unacceptable development in the countryside and would result in the loss of prime agricultural land therefore, is contrary to Scottish Planning Policy, Adopted FIFEplan Policies 1 and 7.

    2. The design of the proposed development is not in-keeping with the surrounding countryside and will have a significant detrimental impact on the visual amenity of the surrounding area including the East Neuk Local Landscape Area therefore, the proposal is contrary to Policies 10 and 14 of the Adopted FIFEplan 2017.

I would be really surprised if the architects had not consulted with the planners before submitting an application.

From personal experience, at another organisation, the way to get planners back's up is to dive in head first, without asking their views.

As a visitor attraction to a area with few, it should have stood some sort of chance.

With the support of local councillors (1 &2 ), are not insurmountable.

Look on the bright side - if 60009 does become entombed, maybe 60010 will return from Canada to take its place!

Is there any reason why Exporail in Canada would want to get rid of 4489/60010? It was well received back from York after cosmetic restoration. What of the other three that are still in the UK, aren't they more likely candidates?

That's me with time off as well going in today. Whats the chances of the engine staying over the summer, when the ticket for mainline runs out and if the shed in Scotland isn't ready...
