    Times up for this one:

    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U53479/2018/10/13/advanced

    and return (diesel hauled)

    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U53484/2018/10/13/advanced

This looks like the LE move for the diesel to haul the return:

Was kind of nice that they dropped the diesel at Kings Cross and let Flying Scotsman honour him unassisted.

At the moment, some assistance would be useful... has been struggling a bit to get some traction, but now she's found her feet :D

Open Train Times maps have you as descending Stoke Bank to Grantham some 20 minutes late having dropped 16 minutes after leaving Stoke Jct. Is that right?

Real Time Trains has you as dropping 21 minutes between Stoke Jct and High Dyke Jct. What occurred?

Lack of traction, slipping somewhat... poor railhead conditions and starting on an incline with a fully loaded train didn't help (apparently only one empty seat) ! We were held at the junction before Stoke Tunnel.

The GPS app on my phone has just recorded a peak of 80mph!

RTT had you leaving Stoke Jct. 4 late but 25 late by High Dyke. 21 minutes to transit Stoke Tunnel seemed a tad excessive.

Ah. But I did have a stroke of luck if you watch my forthcoming video (the second clip at Biggleswade).

Trust me, it was very, very slow progress away from the standing start: by the up line there was a guy in a hi-viz suit making pushing gestures! You could feel FS slipping and I was genuinely concerned we'd end up stuck, fouling the switch into the tunnel. But as she found her feet, it became a very spirited sprint.

Am now enjoying a cuppa in the (N)RM, having arrived at 14:00.

Usual caveats apply, but someone in my carriage said the diesel was left behind at the Cross because it had failed in the platform?

I should add that there was a minute's silence on the train, signified by the whistle, during the committal of Mr. Pegler.
