Excellent, at least you won't be able to criticise the sectional timings on the ELR the same weekend.

On Twitter today the MHR have posted that the 10.15 from Alresford on all three days will be a double-header with 5199 & 7822.

I believe the consist is a Brake + TSO + freight vehicles - no idea what or how many & I could be wrong, could be any few of over two dozen vehicles - maybe the Presflo will be in there! :)

Its pretty obvious in a way that why would you announce a major double header which the both westerns facing backwards? To me they are both facing Alton plus 80078 facing Alresford?

Well the standard tanks at Swanage last weekend only ever left Swanage bunker first and were only chimney first on the way back as far as Corfe, and then LE to Swanage. Even if things had run to schedule would have been pretty dark by then anyway.

Latest news is that we will be having a visiting steam loco on the Sunday of the Autumn Steam Gala. Its a GWR Burry Port 0-6-0 tank loco, number 2165 kindly being brought over from the Ingfield Light Railway.

We will also be having a visiting 1/2 size Tasker Steam Tractor that one of our team, Richard, is kindly bringing. This will be operating on the Saturday and the Sunday of the gala.

If you are coming to the gala on either of these days do please come and visit us to see these fine machines.

There isn't usually but one of the trains (the one marked RAT) on the timetable will be serving real ale at a very good price.

Sit Rep from my 'man on the ground' at Alresford......

    2.5 engines have arrived.

Prairie & Std4T & the manors tender, with the loco due to arrive tomorrow.

The Westerns are facing London, with the Std4T facing Country, again!

The local will consist of Bulleid Brake + MkI TSO + Box van + Milk tank, though the wagons maybe subject to change - the coaches will be on the London end so they can at least benefit from steam heating.

    You're welcome.

Also I believe there is a plan to display 45379 in the car park at Alresford - whether that will happen, I know not, as things can and will change, but wherever she is, if she looks as good as this https://www.flickr.com/photos/duty_druid/30374752017/ after all the weather has done since the cleaning gang did last weekend, she'll be a credit to their unsung efforts! :)

Ah but is it real Ale, I went to another preserved line that advertised real ale onboard a train but it turned out to be keg bitter, real ale has to be kept as still as possible and all that rock n rolling onboard a moving train upsets the real ale hense the keg.

    It's bright, not keg.
    No gas involved.
