Ah ! Another Max Headroom fan, but from the original British black-humour series I hope, not the watered down U.S. version.:Blackalien:

There's nothing finer than a GW liveried loco hauling a choc & cream rake. :)

Rather disappointed to hear that it is currently not planned to operate a QB dining service during the Winter Steam gala on 29/30 Dec.

Seeing that last year demand for breakfast was so high that many were turned away, and the operation was generally thought (via posts on here) to have been very successful, it seems rather strange.

Can anyone say what the reason is? Thanks

  11. Not heard that. It's still advertised on the official website QB page:

    GALA EVENT RESTAURANT CAR SERVICES
On selected dates during West Somerset Railway gala events, the Quantock Belle serves Full English Breakfasts and Hot Lunches. On these dates, our restaurant car is open to all WSR ticket holders. The first service must be pre-booked for breakfast, the remaining services will be on a first come, first served basis. We endeavour to closely replicate British Railways restaurant car operations on these dates.

Spring Steam Gala: 2019 dates to be confirmed
Diesel Gala: 2019 dates to be confirmed
    Autumn Steam Gala: 27th - 30th September 2018
    Winter Steam Gala: 29th & 30th December 2018

Ah, thanks for this @Barrie the Beer

I had sent a query to the WSR facebook page and got this back :

Hi , Thank you for your message, at the moment we are not planning to do breakfasts on the QB for the Winter Steam Festival. If this changes, the website will be updated. [IMG]

So possibly some confusion, I will await developments anyway! Next time I will ask on here. Hope the QB does operate on those days.

I'm going to the office at Minehead tomorrow. I'll ask the WSR Commercial folk and see if they can clear up the confusion.

In the last few minutes I spoke to Mark Hills, WSR Commercial Manager. A decision has not yet been taken about the running of the QB breakfast service at the Winter Steam Festival.

    It will be shortly.

It reads like an internal volunteer and staff message to me, rather than something to be published and read by the general public.

Maybe but in the 21st Century world unless there is an NDA in place nothing much is private these days. Plus people (for good and bad reasons) seem to get NDA's disputed now.
This does not sound in keeping with the earlier "a few issues" comments that were posted here, which I must admit anyway sounded like the Corporate speak my employers used to peddle when things were going wrong.
