This has appeared on RTT, and according to UKSteam is a light engine movement, but would anyone know whether is a diesel or steam loco?

My impression is that the default mode on RTT is activation two hours before departure. For example I just looked at the 1106 Knaresborough to Leeds today--- activated 0906. So I think if something is activated two hours before departure time that makes it more likely to run not less. Obviously things can happen in real time but I think activation equals expected to run.

Mayflower failed ftr yesterday with a minor steam leak in the firebox, but I'm told this has been sorted and the stock has been shunted into the U&D goods loop.

5M5o, whatever it is, appears to have made it as far as Carnforth station. A couple of years ago, a loco on it's first test after repairs got this far then went back into the yard. Was that Galatea? Also, RTT doesn't seem to get updates from steam locos on the Wennington line. Still no substitute for an eye-witness account.

That is certainly not my experience over the years !
Quick example from today - 4M03,the Mossend to Clitheroe cement tanks was activated 2 hours before booked time and hasn't run and I'm sure I could find lots more.
The good news is that something IS going ahead from Carnforth although I won't be able to get out to see it

I would guess turning the Duchess for the Lincoln trip. As it does not even arrive at Southall until 0049 after coming off at Peterborough tonight I suspect they did not want to have to muck around with the support coach.
Here is a Friday turning move from a few years ago.
