There never was a run round in the usual sense, there was a traverser long enough for a tank engine

    See my Post #77
Larger engines could use the traverser but had to set back to Tyseley for turning.

Well its my first time doing a western hall mainline style on heritage trains cos i only grew fond of helping the steam preservaion scene out in 2011 cos my dad were shed basher in the br days and got me into it wi a 00 gauge model railway set at 12 years old and reading eric treacy books on it when he photoded trains and did a book. My dad spotted from 1959 onward til 1964 going round sheds in G manchester wi passees fro the sephenson society and donnie works the plant. So yes it was a good expirience 4 me doin main line western loco 1 way fro tyseley altough i paid £ 63 return fro leeds. 2 4 price o 1 i say a c.47 and a hall lads thanks threelinksdave.

Sorry to be thick but could you explain a 'traverser'. Not something I'm familiar with. Thanks.

Being a terminus station and built in a confined area, Moor Street used a traverser which allowed the locomotives to be moved sideways instead of reversing back through crossovers:

How come the SPRS stock is being used and not the usual Tyseley Mk2 rake?

The answer is earlier in this thread, the Tyesley rake still requires ORR approval for passenger operations - red tape basically.

Maybe this did hit the SVR Santa programme who have had to resort to discounting late bookings to fill seats risking the wrath of early bookers who paid more for the first time, this service is very accessible to a huge market.

Unless he meant the Black Friday deal which offered discounted tickets for last weekend?

The first weekend always has spare seats so a good idea but nothing to do with the VT offering.

That's all I can think of, not unusual for first weekend to have spare seats and seems good business sense to sell any spare at a last minute discount, to ensure you get some income for them.
