I’ll be on this, particularly looking forward to seeing how 44871 goes on with the sharp 43min start to stop booking from Basingstoke to Salisbury.

There is an LE path back to Acton but will it have a DL tucked inside? No reason why it should unless it loads to more than 10. May go to Bas to look and some home if there is.

The Yeovil trip has has a diesel at the rear the past couple of years, although last year one without ETH from memory. The LE path to Acton Lane may actually make the prognosis worse rather than better that a diesel will be behind the Black 5.

Could be. Affter all, there are three steam-hauled trains going to Sherborne this month and one of the other trans is hauled by Clan Line which, in view of its deserved reputation as one of the best performers on the main line, may prove a more popular option for people aware of both tours, given the market is finite. Not that I have anything against Black Fives, I hasten to add.

I plan to catch this Basingstoke to Salisbury and need to catch a train at 0911. If anybody is on the Sherborne train or sees it please could you post info on whether a DL is involved so I will hopefully know before buying my SWT ticket? Thanks.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad timings, but the signalling has failed at the country end of Woking station.
This link gives what details are publicised -
    http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/208592.aspx
A quick look at Real Time Trains suggests that some services are passing through Woking, so the tour may be lucky.

    Cheers, Neil

There’s no diesel tucked inside. Load 10 and 33025 has been detached off the rear.

There has been a signalling fault at Woking this morning. It seems to now be cleared (according to National Rail Twitter feed) but various service trains and/or crew are now out of position causing knock on delays which may have an effect on the timings of this tour.

Signalling problems now cleared according to National Rail Enquiries. Looking at RTT services are passing Woking OK.
The normal comments apply about disruption continuing for some hours due to stock and crew displacement.

    Cheers, Neil

Glad it ran solo, but I get very confused by the diesel no diesel scenario. Last year this tour was hauled by a Class 7 (Cromwell) load 11 and took a 33 on the rear. This years a Class 5 load 10 is OK on its own. Not sure if the extra coach means the fouling of some track circuits at Yeovil as the 33 did some short moves with the stock last year. Does make it very difficult to work out which tours are likely to be diesel free though.
