Saw 6233 hauling the empty stock out of Ferme Park yard as I left work a few minutes ago. Too dark to identify the 47 on the other end, but the tinsel in the carriages was clearly visible!

My footage of the tour at Gordon Hill, unfortunately the diesel on the rear was working (class 33) and I don't know why considering the tour was 6E through the station

More to the point, the Duchess was barely working although, of course, we don't know whether, for example, they were looking to conserve water.

Well at least I wasn't the only one who got the diesel doing the work. Look forward to seeing your footage. I hope when I see the return that 60009 is made to work a bit harder.

I hope so too. Plan to do a sound recording of 60009 through Hitchin tonight and I want to hear an A4 not a blooming Crompton.

I wonder if this is due to the usual reluctance to open the Duchess up.

She had no diesel assistance last Saturday so she didn't get a free ride on that trip.

6233 going well this morning at South Muskham just north of Newark. Couldn't tell if the box was pushing at the back (it was 33 025 BTW). RTT shows Tallington Junct-Stoke Junct in 16 minutes against a schedule of 30 so that was quite a push (see Post #9). It turned 14L at Tallington into RT at Stoke but they did miss out the pathing stop.

That is a bit strange isn't it. No diesel on a return trip to Lincoln, but a diesel on a one way trip to York. There must be reason for it but we'll probably never find out.

Duchess was booked off Southall at 4:15 this morning to turn it with the train for today’s trip. Due to the cold weather forecast and the need to steam heat the carriages it was a late decision to take the diesel to help conserve water as it would be cutting it close to the safety margin on water. It was deemed better to be safe and conserve water than run out. This is why the loco was worked harder after the water stops.

Weather forecast was pretty bad for most of the country today. Not sure if it has snowed in York as forecast but not surprised diesel used on this and the Pathfinder trip.
Even here in Swanage today where the weather has been awful the T9 had rear Class 33 assistance on the dining train and the U took about 10 minutes for the first 400 yards this morning so on the mainline understandable I guess.

Certainly been bad here on the NW Coast, heavy rain and strong winds all day.
