When the level crossing at Rolvenden was replaced recently, I believe plastic sleepers were inserted between the old track and the concrete sleepers which preceded the concrete cast track slabs.

And what would the carriage then be worth as scrap? I'm wondering - brutal though it is - would selling the loco for scrap begin to cover the asbestos removal of the sleeper, and the shell of the carriage (if anything could be salvaged/sold on to other owners) then used to defray the final total cost?

I do feel sorry for the guy. Heaven knows, I've made some expensive mistakes in my other hobby I know I'll never recoup.

The only real uses I can see are as volunteer accommodation or conversion to a vehicle that offers disabled access with perhaps a kitchen option.

Stuart wanted to own an engine . We all laughed and said he wouldn't do it . So he bought a carriage chassis which he then traded up to a sleeper which you could argue wasn't a bad piece of business . On top of that he bought the remains of AB2352 .

trouble is despite our sometimes poor reputation there were enough sensible souls on here to counsel Stuart against it . his downfall continues to be not listening , no plan , no experience . Scattergun contact with various people and not listened . The whole saga really does now need putting out of its misery

Presumably from mugs who think that all heritage/restoration projects are worthwhile.
The heritage world seems full of them.

As a resident of Somerset putting an engine in Wales , carriage in a haulage yard and proposing a scheme in Lancashire seems hair brained to me
