Steam engine sold at car auction

I saw this on Saturday when watching the Barrett-Jackson car auction

I have not been able to find what gauge this is or any details on the state of the boiler

As there is asat in the tender guess that this is about 1/8 scale, 7.25" or 7.5" gauge

 

I was thinking around 15" since you would have to seat 3 pax per seat if 4 cars seat 36 pax.

The listing says it has four Pullman cars and is in total 52.5 feet long.

If you assume at full size the loco + tender would be about 100 feet long; four carriages say 300 feet (i.e. 75 feet each). That gives order of magnitude 400 feet in total, so it sounds like it is about 1/8 full size; that in turn suggests to me 7.25" gauge if the US uses the same miniature gauges as the UK.

US equivalent is usually (!) 7.5"

 

Actually most of the east coast of the U.S. and Canada is 7.25" the further west one goes the proportion of 7.5" increases and the west is almost 100% 7.5". For a while I had a Boston & Albany 4-6-6T in 7.5" gauge.

Thanks, Ray. I know more of the West Coast miniature rail than the East. I was aware there was a difference but wasn't sure where the division was.
