    ?????
    Is it?
I thought a Ltd was just a company with privately held shares, while a PLC had publicly traded shares?

I may be wrong, but I believe a Ltd can have up to 20 shareholders, any more and it has to be a PLC. I did business at school within the last decade but can't remember it all now.

4110 I see has been purchased by the railway makes a very strong locomotive pool for the future.

Any idea as to how you can purchase shares in the DVR & the price?

I'm not aware of a limit on shareholder numbers. Ltd is a Private Limited Company and PLC Public Limited Company. The difference is how the shares are traded with a PLC shares traded publicly and an LTD one by private transactions only.

With 4555 and 2253 joining the fleet in 2019(?), certainly going to be some variety from the staple 7827, 4277, 5239 of recent years (and not forgetting 75014!).

Though nothing beats 7827 on a Summer Saturday working its way up Goodrington...

I wonder why, after years of running successfully with a minimalistic loco fleet, they are suddenly expanding it so dramatically?

Afraid you are wrong - there is no limit to the number of shareholders a company can have - https://www.gov.uk/limited-company-formation/shareholders

A company has to be a PLC if it is going to offer shares to 'the general public', as opposed to a closed, private group. I suspect a few preserved railway connected Companies may just tread on the edge of what is legal for a private company! (PLCs have to have a minimum share capital of £50,000).

If DVR have changed from PLC to Ltd, it means that they won't be issuing shares to just anyone making an application - whether they actually have done or not is another question!

Assume is to do with that they run some sort of service between Feb and December now and a two train service for 4 months of the season.

I believe 75014 & 7827 are the only serviceable engines. With 2253 & 4558 joining at later in the season.

Don’t know the state of 4110 and what needs to be done to it.

4110 needs quite a bit doing to it by the look of this photo.

Perhaps they are forming a strategic reserve?

This is the point that Yorkshireman will tell us that there's nothing wrong with the loco, that we don't understand because we don't live in Somerset and that it could run tomorrow because everything is hunky dorey on the WSR......

I believe I'm already on his ignore list for daring to suggest that the WSR should look at how other railways are organised and fund raise

    I think I read somewhere
I think I read somewhere that it had to do with how big a shareholding could be without becoming a takeover.

So is Mr H buying ?

As An individual, I will have nothing to do with Mr Hoskins.
So that removes any support for a growing number of interesting projects.
I will wish Mr Hoskins well.

And what if he offers to put in a donation towards 813's next overhaul?
