Unless the WHHR have one the wagon is fictional. I think the one in the picture is converted by Statfold barn. Made to look vaguely like something GWR. The RNAD usually had flats that you could add posts or sides too. Rather than fixed open wagons like In the picture.

590 was also painted plain maroon and not lined as far as we can tell.

Not a problem - they'll run it through fruit and veg instead. The aisles are wider there.

It suddenly occurred to me today that we haven't heard any news on the new James Spooner for a while. Does anybody know whether she still being worked on, or is other work taking priority at the moment?

I bet I'm not the only one who shares your frustration. Same applies to Welsh Pony. Zippedy-do-da on it's Faceache site since the loco went back into the works last September. It's almost as if they're too busy actually doing stuff to keep us lot updated. :(

The webcams seem to be on holiday at the mo too, which I tend to take as a sign something interesting is going on ..... but that's probably just paranoia on my part!

On the upside, Gorsaf Caernarfon is coming along nicely.

Haha! I wouldn't say I'm frustrated, the FfR doesn't owe me anything. But it came to mind as I was uploading some old photos of Earl of Merioneth to Flickr and I thought there was no harm in asking :)

(Incidentally, the photos are at https://www.flickr.com/photos/muztrem/albums/72157636022241253)

I'm completely distraught* :Bawling: ..... Gorgeous set of pix though. I hadn't clocked the head-on size difference between K1 and an NGG16. The photos at T-y-B are striking. Not always the easiest lighting conditions at that end of the station.

The platework work for James Spooners boiler is with a firm in the Tanat Valley who are assembling it. It is due to return to Boston Lodge in the spring. Parts of the boiler cradle are being progressed ready for when the boiler is finished.

Welsh Pony has been taken on by the Taliesin team with work progressing on the motion.

Merddin Emrys is having a full bogie overhaul.

DLG is having some broken stays replaced.

Linda damaged its pony truck axleboxes last year and a new set have been fabricated. It should be back in service when daily running starts.

Lilla is having a ten year re-tube. Volunteers have now removed all the old tubes. They are hoping to have it back in service in a few months.

Blanche and Taliesin are available for February half term trains.

87 is having a major overhaul the boiler is making good progress off site and due a hydraulic test at the end of Feb. The bogies on his loco have suffered from cracks on numerous occasions and are being totally rebuilt.

Of the two other spare boilers, the ex 129 one is nearing completion and also due a hydraulic test at the end of Feb. The ex 143 one is a longer term project requiring a new inner firebox.

The boiler off 134 is also off site being progressed as funds allow. This is being funded by the WHR society.

As well as Facebook it's worth keeping an eye on 'Inside Motion' which has regular, if brief, updates on whats going on at the F&WHR:

I note that Barrie Hughes' Isengard site says that "Baldwin 608", a vacuum fitted loco, will be visiting the WHR for the June heritage weekend. I can't say I've ever heard anything about this loco, and Google is unhelpful. Does anyone know what it is? My best guess is one of the 10-12-d locos that Statfold imported a couple of years ago has been restored on the quiet.

According to this posting https://www.national-preservation.c...thusiast-day-weather.39654/page-2#post-539066 no 608 is indeed Baldwin W/N: 45190 from Statfold Barn.

From those pics I would assume that the loco has been sold, as Statfold does its own restorations.
I think that might be the workshop that restored the Mosley Railway Trust Hudswell Clarke and Hunslet locos.

According to www.uklocos.coml it is at a private site in Leyland, Lancashire and should be for eventual use on the West Lancs. Light Railway

From what I understand, this loco is going to be based at the FR.
