Sterling shots from today may I say John, Shere is on the list for a future Surrey Hills run! You'll want to come off the A428 at Albury onto Blackheath Lane, takes you under the line where you can park and walk up to the crossing. I walked from the station in less than favourable underfoot conditions!

Thanks for that, I’ll have a look next time. The shot I did today wasn’t possible last year as they have taken a lot of trees out, you can see the stumps on the embankment. The ‘normal’ shot is more head on from the crossing.

    Beautiful shot !!

By the way, I was the guy who gave you a lift back to the bus stop. Hope you managed to catch the bus to Guildford OK. <BJ>

My video from Battersea, Victoria, Putney, and finally Merstham. No. 9 was certainly putting on a show, thanks to the crew and all involved!

Thanks very much my friend, for the praise and that very helpful lift! What a brilliant location Little Ford was. Yes, the bus was only a minute late and I made it back to the capital in good time to meet my friends at Victoria. Same can't be said of my train home from Kings Cross, had to depart twice due to broken points just outside Gasworks Tunnel! Hope your drive home was a good one, look forward to our next crossing of paths, wherever that may be...

Really gutted I couldn't get out to see this yesterday. Perfect conditions and a very impressive performance from No.9 shown in the excellent videos on this thread. It must be one of the best ascents of the Surrey Hills by steam. I guess that there weren't any performance experts travelling on the Pullmans yesterday. I wonder if anyone in the support coach was recording the performance? Ian Riley and his team have really got the A4 on top form for her final months of action.

Of course she looks superb John, she’s an A4 - none better. :)

Looks like 34046 is coming down for next one. Was hoping for the loud 70000 because it hasn’t done the Pullman train in awhile though. All good

I hear on the grapevine that 34046 has a brake problem and won't be heading south today. 70000 is not gauged for a crucial part of tomorrow's route so the train will have to be diesel hauled.

Oh, shame! So no need to go to Vic tomorrow afternoon then?

RTT move cancelled so we assume tomorrow will be a diesel. It happens, of course, but it's a sad business for Belmond who are very particular about what hauls their trains and doesn't. Steam needs good PR with these high stakes trips.

According to UK Steam Info 34046 is unfit to run and the Mary Poppins Tea Train will be diesel hauled.
