So, Sapperton and Old Hill for Clun's first proper outing with Ray Churchill in charge. Sounds all very exciting, hope it runs like past trips when under WCR control.

Interesting to read that Tyseley have a three year deal with Rivera trains and are holding 10 chocolate and cream mk1’s. Apparently the set are dual vacuum and air for flexibility answering questions raised a couple weeks back... statement also reads they can mix and match the takes to compensate Tyseley’s own that is reported as having eight coaches now overhauled and ready for operation.

12 coaches actually made the move, 3 TSOs, 5 FOs, 1 RMB, 1 RBR, 1BCK and a converted BG which is now a generator car. They were air brakes only but Tyseley is reinstating the vacuum brakes to make them dual again.

Doesn’t Dorridge allow the DL to be left behind? If it stays then inevitably it will need to work on the banks. Is Ben able to clarify?

Looking on Google Earth there still seems to be a loop/siding alongside the station.

I guess having dual-braked stock will make it less likely that they have to take a diesel on longer trips as, in the event of problems, it could be rescued by any loco and not rely on having a vacuum braked loco nearby.

There really isn't space at Dorridge to leave anything. All three platform lines, plus the up passenger loop, are in use throughout the day every day. There has been a down loop in progress for some time bit I'm not sure that is even connected up yet. Dorridge may allow for running round between services, although the frequency at all hours makes that tricky. Hatton is a better bet for that but not sure whether the signalling could cope.

A light engine move is of course possible as Dorridge isn't much further from Tyseley than Paddington is from Southall. What Dorridge certainly has is lots of nice wealthy potential passengers....

you'd have to drag all the way to Leamington to crossover

Dorridge does have a run round although again sense would be for a Diesel Drag out to Dorridge and then away . Given a new TOC an engine on the tail would seem to be a sensible insurance as they get established . I know this won't please the purists

but is it signalled to allow a reversal ? I ask as the Hatton North one does not seem to be used as a reversal point , engines going to Dorridge

I believe it to be signalled as it is set up for bydirectional working. There are signals facing down trains on the up line. You are corect re Hatton North as it lacks the vital dummy from the down line to Hatton West hence locos have to go to doridge to reverse

We have now opened these trains up to everyone. In addition, there are 6 other railtours online....and that is just the start!

We hope you will all travel with us again in the near future.

I've just had look at the Llandudno extravaganza tour on 4th May ay from Solihull with Clun castle a partly diesel hauled tour between Llandudno and Chester eastbound is this because Clun castle would have to run tender 1st out of Llandudno and would the same manouver apply coming from Chester westbound?

Last time we did the Victorian Ex we ran to Chester with the 47' trailing and then left Chester with the 47' leading and 5043 on the back. This made the Castle the right way round for coming home again all the way chimney first. This way just looks like a variation on a theme.

Why is the term 'drag' always used when a diesel hauls a train with a steam loco on the back? It will be in steam and doing some work, IE 'top and tail'. It always makes it sound as if there's something amiss and it's a demic...
Maybe in a T&T diesel charters where the one at the back is shut down you could day it's being dragged but it never seems to be the case.
On the forthcoming Wensleydale, north of York will the loco on the back be classed as being dragged? No of course it won't.
