To pricey, not enough track, locos aren't exactly star studded for the price, huge lack of organization by the looks of it.

I will not attend this event

Oh, I dunno. I'm quite looking forward to the noise the small engines will be generating up the 1 in 80 to Medstead and the bright colours.

As for the length of the line, there isn't really all that much the railway could do, short of inventing a sky hook ;) A least it's only impacting 1 gala...
The web site indicates that the gala is on for 8 hours, so presumably that means more trips (I haven't seen a timetable either).

Never understand the mentality of people who feel the need to go out of their way to tell us they aren't coming. Just don't come. Nobody cares.

Would be really nice to see a timetable! I'm trying to decide whether to take a day off on Friday to go to this - if nothing comes out tomorrow, I'll be deciding "no" and they'll lose one potential customer.

I've managed to get hold of someone higher up the food chain than me - so hopefully the situation should be sorted tomorrow.......

Likewise. I'm supposed to be on the BBLS stall at the NVR gala on Sunday but for once it looks like we're oversubscribed with helpers. If this turns out to be the case I'll pop down and lend a hand on our stall at Ropley for a while and also get some thrash from the USA and the Pannier.

I think the official view is that everyone is welcome....
As for costs, I'm sure the management would have liked the loco owners and hauliers to give us a discount on steaming and transport fees because roadworks for a housing development have truncated our line...but that didn't happen.
On the upside, there will be a lot of activity at Medstead, a lovely station which has a chance to shine at a gala as never before! I'm certainly looking forward to the Yankee tank storming up through Sun Lane cutting and bursting out of Ropley past the new sidings there.......

I think they do it to let the organisers know that there are elements of the event that are not to their liking.

Certainly the most expensive of the four galas I plan to attend over the next few weeks.
But then we are getting six locos, one of which I've not ridden behind before and one I've not seen before.

    Okey Dokey,

Its gala time, so it must be time for a shameless plug for the Wagon Group & our intrepid Wagonista's manning the sales stand at Medstead! :D

As Medstead is currently a terminus, for this gala, we have a new home.......

Our sales stand will be in the BY van (C) in the dock, which offers a not oft available viewpoint of loco's storming up the bank. ;) :) So whilst perusing the various goodies on offer to tempt your wallet, no doubt you'll be able to admire the painstaking restoration of the vehicle and I'm sure those of us (not me ) who are manning the stand will be happy to answer any questions you might have....... :Nailbiting:

As well as the usual fayre, new for this year, is this this years must have limited edition Hunt & Co. van either No,3 or No,6 which are £13 each or the pair for £25 - a bargain! :) Pic below (not mine), but it does look rather smart.

Sadly we are unable to offer yard tours this time round, due to operational reasons.

Brake Van rides will be available, for a "suggested" donation of £10 each & the QMB will be on the London end, meaning plenty of bark from the Loco - what's not to like?...:)

    Very nice Sir!

Certainly I am looking forward to working tomorrow - I may be found in SR uniform as the annoying young porter who is probably eating chips...

That said, tomorrow won't leave much time for lunch, methinks.
