Fantastic news! No. 34092 "City of Wells" is my favourite unrebuilt SR West Country class!

To be extremely pedantic, although it might only just have been announced, the deal and financial aspects were completed in October 2018, well within the timeframes agreed.
I understand though that Mr Greenwood and Mr Adams are currently at the Moors with her, enjoying not having to worry too much anymore.

I still can't get my head round 'unrebuilt', it's either rebuilt or it's as original, or has it been rebuilt then returned to original...

Quite so. To be 100% accurate it's either a Bulleid Pacific or a Jarvis Pacific (detuned). :)

Would it be more correct of me to say original with streamlining?:)

It would be correct to say original with air-smoothing

I'm afraid not. What you call streamlining was referred to on the Southern as air smoothed casing, which is even more of a mouthful to say. Better stick to unrebuilt for simplicity if not for accuracy. We all know what you're talking about.

IIRC Bulleid's thinking with regards to the "air smoothed" casing, was to allow the loco to be driven through the carriage wash. Whilst hauling/propelling the carriages through......

I've never had a problem with "unrebuilt" meaning "not rebuilt and still having the streamlined casing as originally built".
But then again, what do I know about SR locos, I'm a GWR person. :)
