Nothing sinister - paths were superfluous, so we cancelled them.

Northern unit of some sort had a fuel line/tank damaged with a resulting loss of diesel. Unit had to be rescued so Preston area needed all available space to put cancelled trains.

Just heading south at speed after saying goodbye to Leander that produced a workmanlike performance today. All the operational stuff was handled efficiently by West Coast and some of the hill climbing between Lostock and Hellfield was nice and lively.

Still getting over THREE steam charters sitting in Crewe at the same time. It seems there is capacity on the network at the right time and in the right place.

Nice photo Steve. I see the trees on the left hand side have been removed since I was last there.

Many thanks. Yes, fair bit of line clearance done here about 12 months or so ago, helps a lot with reducing the shadows.

Had actually eased somewhat by Lancaster. You should have heard it at Hest Bank!

I was in the rearmost coach, but walked most of the way to the front just after Preston to enjoy the wonderful sound on the uphill sections towards Wilpshire. There were plenty of folk filming, especially around Blackburn/Daisyfield, so I hope some more videos will appear. As far as I can remember this was my first ever ride behind a Jubilee either in regular service or in preservation, and it was a good one.

It was a stroke of good fortune that the two northbound charters yesterday were going via the S and C and the 0710 from Euston was going to Blackpool. The WCML north of Preston was in a lot of trouble yesterday morning due to this incident at Garstang.
