Excellent cover and that shot of Frodsham Arches is great, I wonder who talked to the driver whilst at the water stop for a whistle or two.......

Thanks Ralph, the whistles were all arranged with the owners of the Mersey tug boat which sits almost underneath the viaduct and is operational.

On this occasion it wasn’t Pete, it was me. However, the major credit for getting her over the top goes to Chris Birmingham who worked the regulator to restart and keep her moving. Very disappointing to slip so badly when we were running at about 70 by Plympton. She was slipping with about 100psi in the steam chest, even with the sanders on. If you look at the videos, she was actually accelerating on the bank when she stood up, it was the lack of adhesion that was the problem. Disappointing after the excellent climbs to Dainton and Tigley the previous day. ( anybody know what the speeds were? I was concentrating elsewhere at the time!)
Working a loco hard does not mean thrashing. Thrashing is working a Loco harder than necessary at any given point. WCR do not employ Drivers who thrash or otherwise mistreat other peoples pride and joys.
Many thanks to Simon S & the whole PRCLT Gang.

Definitely. The best view of the Clyde for the passengers and an even better view for the unsuspecting Glasgow public. :)

Really pleased I got in touch with the Loco Owners and RTC to arrange the whistle exchange!

Just a word on Aberdeen. Northbound we were stuffed by a signal problem and that meant we lost all the paths for ECS and loco movements. It all became too difficult for Control and hence the delay as we were put to the back of the queue.

Coming home the diesel activity was far better. The climb out of ABD was unassisted after a nudge to get us rolling. Banked out of Arbroath but that was it. Lovely up to Gleneagles with 42 min. Great path back to EDB from Stirling.

Unassisted?! The only reason I knew it was coming through the mist was because all I could hear was that thing growling away at the rear...

You clearly don't know what a Cl 37 sounds like when it's switched on.

Like that especially as you kept the mast in shot on the right to add the continuity :)

Thanks Steve pleased you liked the shot. Thanks for your observation that I included the mast as you say it needs to be in the shot.
