If "one of its leading tyres on the front axle" means one of the bogie wheels, at least they only need to turn down the other one on that axle to match, and re-tyring just those two wheels sooner or later isn't a huge job.

Weren’t the tyres on the minimum already and down to be replaced during the winter maintenance window? I wonder if the recent slipping bouts are partly the symptom of worn tyres?

I don’t think worn bogie tyres would cause driving wheels to slip.

''A defect has been identified with one of its leading tyres on the front axle''.

I'm assuming that the front axle would be the first axle of the leading bogie. Let's hope that it's not the front driving axle. <BJ>

Assume the 47s are in T&T formation. When this happens is the loco at the rear providing any power or is it being dragged around as dead weight? Is this practice done as insurance or to avoid running round or for some other reason?

47746 on rear, providing ETH only.

  10. Front coach and 47746 both covered in fresh graffiti.

2 x class 47s running as a pair in homeward trip from Kingswear. Running over 20 early through Westbury (Frome stop chopped out).

One loco has awful graffiti on bodyside and same goes for rearmost 2 coaches. Hope 6233 soon fixed.

Oddly there are two paths for the ECS to Victoria in the morning, one leaving southall at 0553, the other at 0720

That route out from Victoria to Reading in the morning is an exceptionally roundabout one.

Has anyone received tickets for the Windsor Steam Express?
I would have thought times for a repeating intinerary would have appeared by now - virtually every SWR service to Windsor has a VAR schedule on Tuesdays implying trains use only one platform at Windsorwith turn rounds varying from 0 to 3 minutes.

Can't find any discussion anywhere on the forum about 60103's trips on 30 May and 1 June. This thread would seem the most appropriate one. Is there an embargo on the subject?
