Also when 50035 had its works overhaul in 1987/88 there was a strong rumor it would wear Intercity when it was realeased back into traffic, in the end it went south in grey primer, before being ripped from its train and and having to complete its journey to Laira under darkness, then emerging from the paint shop in NSE.

SVRLive has been updated with several news items in the last few days, including the 20s and 'Hood'. It's intended to use this website more from now on.

Are there any photos of 50031 being rededicated? Can't seem to find any anywhere, both Hood and Ark Royal had a role in sinking Bismarck. It would be nice if there was a bit more made of it.

SVRLive is your friend, I updated the Hood article with some pictures at lunchtime on Saturday. Not quite in real time, but within 20 minutes http://svrlive.wixsite.com/svrlive/copy-of-news-230416-1

Thanks Patrick, I have to say this is somthing the 50 Alliance have always been pretty good at, it's nice to see that they recognise the history behind the names their loco's have been given.

I have, with permission, added a letter of thanks from the HMS Hood Association.

I see the 50 alliance today purchased 50007 I am guessing this will be based at the SVR between mainline duties

Bit of a surprise there, considering he hasn't had it that long and has not long bought D400/50050.

    Bit of thread resurrection:
The DMU has been withdrawn from traffic for the summer pending work on various bits. It is hoped that it will be repaired in time for the Christmas season. The evening scenic service will be loco hauled with the diesel from the S1 turn doing the honours normally.

Shame I was a great fan of the chippy specials and the DMU atmosphere in the non-bar section.

The good news: the boiler has been replaced and is working well.
The bad news: the loco worked a service train this morning but unfortunately was taken out of traffic this afternoon due to “fluctuating amps”.

Thanks to CFPS for the news. <BJ>
