The NVR Wagon Group are running another freight experience, this time with a Western loco.

120 quid for a half day, two round trips, two sessions on footplate with opportunity to drive and fire (each half day has 8 participants, so you rotate turns on the footplate - should total at least half hour on footplate). Ride in the brake van on a loose coupled freight when not on the footplate.

Refreshments included - breakfast bap for morning participants, light lunch for afternoon participants. Space for one guest to ride with you in brake van.

Why on Earth have they photoshopped a photo of a 8750 Pannier at Newport from steam days for?

Seems like a lot of effort when there are plenty of photos of 6430 about.

Not so many period photos on freight though - and the primary emphasis for us (being the Wagon Group) is the freight element. We've done one with a Jinty, one with Repton, and this time it's a Pannier. It's just a marketing picture...

After 5th July we'll have lots of genuine photos of 6430 hauling freight - you could even come along and have some fun :)

(Although I guess it's a long way if your location is current.)

Unfortunately, Pannier 6430 has been recalled to Llangollen, so there will be a change of locomotive for the Wagon Group's Freight Driving Experience on 5th July. It will either be Austerity 3193 or 92 Squadron - I'll confirm which as soon as I know!

I think the booking link has changed too, so it is now here (places still available for both morning or afternoon): https://nvr.org.uk/product.php/93/g...7_-7LzF4Q0-0VQYj0UYVU9XTmxU4XUQ9wX5cKzOpOc9hc

Thought you might say that Ian :) I'll be there on the 5th, so I would also be very happy if it was 92 Squadron..but it's not down to me

Just realised it's a Friday so I can't make it. :( You can use the Austerity now.

Will the timings for the runs be released like they were for the Repton experience earlier in the year?

Have to admit I wasn't aware timings had been published, but it's the same formula, so I would expect the timings to be the same as they were for Repton. In the worst case, allow roughly half an hour briefing from the start time (08:30 or 12:00), two leisurely round trips starting from Wansford lasting somewhere between 1h and 1h30 each and a debrief (plus a quick break at lunchtime).

Thank-you, think previously with Repton they gave a timetable following by an evening photographing the Goods around Wansford Station.
